TMI Tuesday

Hey all! Been a while since I did one of these, so here's another one XD I quite liked how many people read my WIP after the last one though :) Been trying to work on writing more, so hopefully I'll have something out for people to enjoy at some point soon xD

Anyway, onto the TMI! Same thing as usual, I'll ask a question, then you ask!

Okay, here's my question; In Sonic fanfic stuff, while you're reading it, which Voice Actor do you 'hear' as the characters, in your mind? As a few of my friends could tell you, I could go on quite a spiel as to which Sonic VA I like the most, so I'll spare the long rant here XD But personally, when I'm writing or reading Sonic stuff, I usually default to the 4Kids Voice Actors, or at least Jason Griffith, Dan Green (THE BEST KNUCKLES EVER), and Amy Palant. I'm not too big of a fan of the current cast actually ^^;... they do alright, but I don't think they compare too well to the previous one. At least the VA for Knuckles seems to be trying to *slightly* emulate Dan Green (at least Dan Green's 'calmer' Knuckles voice) but the others are kinda mehhhh, to me.

I tend to feel out how the fic is written before assigning the voices in my head. It's usually not too difficult to see where the author is coming from, though I tend to be biased towards the current cast with the exception of Knuckles, who pretty much always gets the SA2 voice in my head.

You ever considered trying to make it out to the UK for those Sonic conventions they have?

I liked Knux's voice in SA2 (What the... a ghost?) so I can definitely see the preference there XD

Actually no, I've never really considered going to a convention, let alone one that I'd have to fly to a different country for! Maybe at some point one will interest me enough that I'd want to go though. I admit it would be cool if like, Crush 40 was playing at one of them or something heh XD

There is way too many to count LOL I watch a lot of YouTube and there is so many good voice actors for a lot of the characters. I mean if you asked me personally which actor I like for which character I could do it but honestly I am way too lazy to name all of them. I mean I guess if anybody is interested I can make a playlist but that is if anybody wants to really know my opinion.

I actually haven't listened to many Sonic fan voice actors, surprisingly! I may have to check that out on youtube or something heh

Admittedly I don't really have a specific voice actor in mind. They all have their really good moments, and not so good moments. Roger does pretty good with what he's done so far, capturing his laid back teenage self. But other times, not so much...

Though more often than not I think of Sonic with Jason Griffith's voice thanks to Unleashed, Secret Rings, etc. Though it may have been less of the voice and more of the writing. That shit was great for those games... Now one I can definitely tell you, is Rouge. Lani Minella, her SA2 voice actor (who was also surprisingly the voice of Omochao, holy shit XD), is wayyyyy better than her current one, Karen Strassman. She really misses the sassiness that was so strongly a part of her character. It's too... sultry, too deep. Knuckles, well, gotta go with SA2 XD. It really showed off his brash side. I can't defend or refute your preference for Dan Green being as I never really watched Sonic X... but it seems he did pretty well XD.

My question... kinda a throwback to an earlier one I think. But I've been in the mood to write some Sonic x Chip XD. I got a few ideas of my own, but what do you think would be some things they could get into?

Yeah, I definitely prefer Rouge's SA2 voice to her current one (I actually like Karen Strassman's other anime roles) but I also have to admit I liked Rouge's actress from 4Kids as well, despite the deeper, sultry voice XD I actually find Strassman's voice to be too high pitched to be seductive, which is funny, because she makes some other characters sound rather appealing in the voice. Oh, Dan Green was not just Sonic X! Just like Griffith, Dan Green continued to voice Knuckles all the way through to Black Knight heh! He even voiced Professor Pickle, and the ice cream guy in Unleashed, as well as Mephiles in 06!

Heh, Sonic and Chip is one I'd like to try at some point as well! I have a couple ideas I could throw your way! You know how Chip marvels over all the stuff in the world, like the taste of food, and how pretty the scenery is? I imagine Sonic, maybe a little horny or something due to Dark Gaia's energy inside him, suggests showing Chip something else that feels really good, wink wink X'D?

Or perhaps, during the scene where they are both enjoying some ice cream, some drips down onto Sonic's groin, and Chip goes down to lick it up, leading to the lewdness?

The current cast is bad in large part due to the writing, which is either Sonic Boom (ugh) or it's the games and it's all over the place.
Say what you will about the era with the Sonic X actors, but at least the characterizations were consistent. As such, it was easier for me to write and feel confidant I was getting it right. I used to hear the X voices in my head, but now I can't if I want to :( they been gone too long. So I try to hear an amalgamation of all their voices in my head, to try and get at the essence of the character. Easy with Tails & Knuckles...not so much with Sonic.

I've never paid too much attention to that respect and i haven't heard many of the Sonic actors so i mostly perceive them as their Sonic Boom cartoon voices x3

Which characters would have the tightest butts in sonic verse? :3c
