So if Goofy's a dog and Pete has always been considered a cat then...

Goofy's considered an anthropomorphic dog ya?  Pete's always been considered a big, bad cat as the old-fashioned, main antagonist of good ol' Mickey Mouse right?

Soooo.. Goofy's side of the family are all dogs?

Pete must be married to a cat right? Therefore Peg, PJ and Pistol are all considered anthropomorphic cats as well hmmm?

Although in this universe cross species breeding probably works fine and doesn't really matter or isn't considered a problem at all since they are all generally the same species anyways.  Also there are actual cats and dogs running around in their world so...hmmmm.

I just get a little irked when I feel the characters get labeled or tagged incorrectly is all.  What do y'all think?

I always thought Peg was a dog that was when I was a kid and watched Goof Troop.
I'd have to see Peg again to see cat attributes.
PJ looks more like his dad and Pistol more like the her mom.
If I remember right Pistol had long ears like a dog does but could be remembering wrong.

Couldn't those ears on Pistol be either cat or dog though?

I suppose so.
I would have to look at them again on the show to remember what her ears looked like.
Been prolly about 20 years since I watched the show.
Old grey muzzle here. xD

Yeah Pete's definitely always been a cat pretty sure.

I've never been sure what the hell Peg is... other than hot.  She doesn't even have much in the way of ears to help out with shape.

Yep, she definitely can be scientifically categorized as 'hot' haha!  I don't care what she actually is I just want her!  I'm pretty sure she has ears like Pistol hidden under all that hair!

We actually only got to see her ears (one of 'em, at least) once.  The ep where Pete got turned into a fly... he got close to an ear trying to get her attention.  As I recall the ear was kind of a stubby nub.  Not much help for ID-ing her species.

Ohhh yeah!  I watched that scene on YouTube before!  They are more like stubby little nubs like a lot of the population in A Goofy Movie.

I think peg is a type of dog or rodent, PJ and Pistol may be because their dad is a cat

A rodent hmmm I haven't thought of that one before!

I think it's no use trying to brainstorm on such things cause the creators probably did not themselves, they just took the basics, a family of cats, a family of dogs and all the rest is just for fun   LOL   But I did indeed see somewhere on the net, some times ago, that as a matter of fact, Peg is a cat (or a kind of feline for the less). As far as I remember I wouldn't call the source a trusted one, but it just does seem logical and plausible enough.

Yeah I agree with ya.  It's probably best not to overthink it too much.  The creators themselves probably didn't give it much thought.  Yeah it just makes sense that Peg would more be considered a cat just based on the family dynamics and circumstances anyways.

in the real old cartoons when  they introduced goofy and pete. goofy was a dog and pete was a cat.

Yeah that's how it always used to be!

I always considered everyone in Goof Troop to just be some original, unidentifiable, non-specific anthros. I never did care to delve deeper into that subject.

I think that's a good way to look at it.  In the end it doesn't matter since they're all pretty generic anyways and we can make them mate with one another if we want to!

exactly.
