Hello there, cheetahs here with what can possibly be disheartening news to some of you. Several people (strangers, acquaintances, and two close friends included), followed my crowdfunding and basically said what I was already thinking. January is a pretty bad month for this sort of event. Everybody comes out of the holiday season with diminished financial resources, so it's completely understandable why things went a little sluggish on the monetary side.
However, the bigger deal is that I don't have a dedicated donation page for this sort of stuff. Not everybody uses paypal, so setting up a ko-fi or gofundme would make this easier for everyone. Which is why I decided to postpone this event for a later time, with march at the latest.
A couple of things you should all understand.
1) It is in everybody's best interest that this crowdfunding is successful
Everybody wins from this, even the people who do not contribute. Writing a detailed, complex story is much more preferable to your quickie porn story that can't match the satisfaction of a well developed romance. Plus, I personally want to do more with my Night Fury protagonists than just sex them up. They really deserve better.
2) All of the funds gathered so far will be kept for when the crowdfunding restarts. Your contributions will definitely not be forgotten ;)
3) I need to do some research and get a proper donation platform for this event
Gofundme seems like the way to go, but I have to do some reading on how it actually works and if they even allow this type of event
4) Better structured rewards and goals
5) I really should get some art featuring the Night Fury protagonists. It's hard to care about a project that doesn't even show you who the main characters are.
All in all, I simply wish to be better prepared. When I initially posted this event, I did so based on my overwhelming enthusiasm with it. But in retrospect, lacking the proper advertising tools(Such as an art with the Night Fury protagonists), and worst of all, having no dedicated donation platform, is pretty derp. So I'll see you in February or March at the latest, when I'll have better tools for the job ^^
P.S: I can't use Kickstarter because it doesn't work in my country, and I'm 99.9% sure they don't allow the funding of fanfiction.
P.P.S: I never did a crowdfunding event of this magnitude so please cut me some slack. It's a learning experience for me :P
