Recap of the Trip

So, here's a recap of the trip:

It was done fairly spur of the moment, and as a result, we didn't have much money to work with, but Darius and his roommates provided for us, thank god. On the way up, we stopped by an arcade/bowling place called Round 1, and while I didn't play much (thanks to being broke), I did see quite a few interesting games, like a Japan-only sequel to one of my favorite light gun games Silent Scope, and a multi-puck Pac Man-themed air hockey table. It was rather fun, and even Darius agreed it was something he needed.

The first week was just getting used to the place and cruising around. We saw the local grocery store, which was HUGE! A lot more variety than our stores, with aisles of stuff. It was employee-owned, and most of what it was selling was home-grown and raised, so that's cool. Found one of my favorite frozen pizzas there, Lotsa Mozza. Was so good, Jag and I had to get some for the trip home. We stopped by a few gaming stores, one of which had a lot of nostalgia in it, including actual Tiger Electronic handhelds for sale, and one was apparently a club-like deal where you had to call in advance to get in, and you need to sign up to their facebook and get qualified to get special deals with them; basically, their way of keeping the clientele focused. They had an N64 card of LoZ:OoT Master Quest, which the owner at first thought was a bootleg, but found out later (after he complained about it and got his money back, being called an "idiot" by the ebay seller) it was genuine, as that was the ONLY way the Master Quest was released, at the time. We also found a tabletop store near Dar that, surprisingly, held Yugioh tournaments AND Sneak Previews, so that's pretty awesome. Jag got a few things from there, but with his limited budget, couldn't get me anything.

The next week was more of the same; we played some games with the group, Jag finished FF6 (you can see his journal about it on his account), and we got to see The Last Jedi, which was much better than what I was lead to believe by the fan outcry. Yeah, Kylo Ren is still a whiny asshole bitch, Rey isn't tat remarkable, and the whole subplot with Finn and his companion was rather pointless, but it was a fun romp, nonetheless. The theater we saw it at was having $5 tickets for all showings, each Tuesday, and were ones with leather recliners for the seating, so that was fun. Jag also got to check out the local casino, something he was trying to get off his bucket list for a while; Dar and his friends go there, every now and then for Bingo, and while his roommate one $500 in a very hard way for the game, treating us to Applebee's that night (where Jag and I both had a Margarita, which we weren't fans of), Jag unfortunately didn't win anything, getting a 1-away before being sniped. Jag says that, if we do move in, He'll likely only indulge once a month for Bingo, especially since you get 18 games for $20 minimum, with hundreds of dollars at stake. Even got himself an official casino daubber for it.

One thing we didn't get to do, though, was go to a place called 42 Lounge, which - get this - is a gaming bar. Yup, really; a full bar, with alcohol, where - for the cost of 1 drink minimum - you get to play all sorts of board and video games. We had it all planned, and I was debating on going, since, while I don't like alcohol and none of the drinks particularly interested me, I wanted to play some of the games they had in stock, ultimately a lack of funds quashed that. Ah, well, maybe later on.

It wasn't all fun and games, though; the neighbors for Dar were horrendous, banging around, slamming doors, etc, and the cat they owned was a menace, yowling whenever she wasn't getting attention... and she wanted the attention, having gone into heat, at that time. It smelled, and the cleanliness of the apartment made our mess at our apartment look like we did a white glove cleaning to the place. One of the roommates is... rather high-maintenance, due to medical issues, and both Jag and I agree we couldn't deal with that, though it sounds like he may be moving out before we can decide to move in, so that may be one issue less we have to deal with. We also saw the apartment Dar wants to move in to, if we agree to move in with him; it's a 3 story townhouse sort of thing, with a spacious basement, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and is pretty big, all things considered. Much better than what we're used to.

Overall, we're still debating on whether or not to move in with Darius, proper, but we agreed that, once we get everything settled here, to the point where we're confident we can move out without incident, we're thinking of moving up into his area (Oak Creek, WI, right on the outskirts of Milwaukee) regardless; being up there is just much more advantageous to us than staying in the dead zone that is Warsaw, IN. We had a lot of fun, a lot of introspection, and we both agreed we needed this, in the end.
