Any military knowledge out there?

by
I am doing it. I am getting stuff from my list done! :D
After I don't know how long it's ago that I've started this and didn't finish I've finished the structure of the European fleet. When I've started the list I think it was still a fleet of a united planet. Oh well.

The list can be seen here:

(Btw, don't forget, wips, sketches and stuff, all on my art Twitter)

If you happen to have any military knowlege, my own isn't that great and I've worked with lots of research here, it would be great if you could share your thoughts on this with me. In the end I hope to have a structure and organisation that would actually be practicable and since I can't test it in years of real life practice...

So give me a comment, send me a note, whatever. Feedback is very appreciated.

Never been in the military either.
The only story with a war in it I myself have is a civil war in a very rural, under-developed, third world setting.
In the location where my characters reside, there is no presents of actual military during that war...The war is a result of civilian rebels trying to overthrow the country. And because the country's military is doing all it can to defend the more populated and developed parts of the country, those in the local community who are fighting the rebels are also civilians...Among the ranks are also cub soldiers.

Most guns are civilian firearms.
Old dynamite, duct taped with nails and broken glass, with the fuses cut short, are often used as grenades.
Any military firearms in the story came from three sources;
1. Military rifles and ammunition stolen by the rebels,
2**. War rifles and ammunition the locals had taken from fallen Portuguese soldiers during the Colonial War for the country's independence 20 to 30 years earlier (mostly A3G3 war rifles).
3**. Military rifles, ammunition and grenades supplied to the rebels by rouge countries.
**Locals who are loyal to the country would take military rifles, ammo and grenades from fallen rebels.
The only actual military vehicle is an armored, troop carrier the rebels had stolen from a military base.

Being the kind of war it was in my story, I was able to get by pretty well with there being no real military strategy per say, and the soldiers being unprofessional.
In a war like that, a battle could sometimes be an unorganized free-for-all...In my story, there is even an incident where rebels who had the stolen troop carrier had burglarized a liquor store and stole a case of booze to bring with them out on patrol.

As in the case of your war with interplanetary fighter ships, it would seem to me that war strategies would vary greatly depending on the capabilities and protection the fighter ships are equipped with...Science and technology making more options available when deciding on war strategies.

One idea I could offer...The more high tech something is (ie, a fighter cruiser), the more vulnerable it would be if someone could make something like a long range signal jammer, or some kind of weapon that could emit an EMT beam.

Yeah, I agree with you there. Problem is, that these ships are never the less highly equiped with high tech and sometimes quite sensible technology. But there are also defense systems for such kind of attacks.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert--Hell, I'd barely be a novice. I couldn't name any officers that aren't already in well-established in history, I can't remember all of the 'general orders' by heart anymore, and I know more ships from Star Trek than I do the U.S. Navy. But I did spend 3 years of high school in an ROTC program. No twitter tho. PM?
