Normally, when I do a political journal (which I've sworn I wouldn't do, but I can't help myself with this one), I target the conservatives. Because... well... they're evil idiots who need to be stopped at all costs.
THIS time, however, I'm targeting liberals. We're GENERALLY well-meaning, but we also have a very nasty habit for well-meaning idiocy. And right now, we're suffering from it. I'm going to put this as plainly and simply as possible:
STOP PROMOTING OPRAH WINFREY AS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR FUCKING FUCK'S SAKE!!!!
If you asked me to pick the ONE person who could do as much damage as our current "president" on OUR side of the aisle, it would be her. There is LITERALLY no one worse to even CONSIDER as a candidate. Because she scares the living piss out of me.
There is no one... NO ONE... in the world who has promoted pseudo-science and science denial than Oprah Winfrey. The only people who even come close are the Christians. This woman has given us "Dr." Oz... "Dr." Phil... and Deepak Chopra. She believes in "the Secret," which is the highest order of New Age woo, that states that if you don't become super-rich, happy, and get everything you want, it's YOUR fault because you didn't want it enough.
Her ideas are dangerous. Her ignorance is even MORE dangerous. The thought of putting this woman... who has promoted anti-vaxxers, New Age woo, fake health supplements, dangerous and deadly health fads, and EVERYTHING that is utterly fake and false that comes her way... The thought of putting her into a position of REAL political power, where she could make her crazy ideas and beliefs into POLICY...
THAT FUCKING SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME.
In addition, we don't WANT another celebrity in office. We NEED to NOT have another celebrity. She is utterly inexperienced, utterly unqualified, and given her belief in all this craziness, her intelligence and sense of reality are already suspect.
It's not exciting, but what we need... is a politician. We need a statesman. We need someone with experience, with qualifications, with the knowledge to do what needs to be done to repair the APPALLING amount of damage that's being caused right now. We need someone boring, who'll fade into the background of daily life, allowing things in our nation to calm down.
We don't need an Anti-Trump.
SO... For the sake of all that is fucking holy... CUT THIS SHIT OUT. Do NOT promote Oprah 2020. Do NOT be so happy and gleeful, when all she did was give a good speech. Everything that is wrong with her overcomes the fact that she might be generally well-meaning.
And if you have family or friends who are feeling the Oprah burn, disabuse them of this as fast and hard as you can.
She might be a... moderately decent person, and a fine philanthropist, but she is NOT our next President.
...I hope.
