Many of my furry sex stories are set in the Union States. This setting is more a general framework than a cohesive world, so while my stories will likely have crossovers the world may not be consistent between their stories.
The Union States might be an all herm setting, or all cub, magic might be real, or they have macros and micros. Other times it won't.
But there are a couple things I intend to keep consistent between all versions of the Union States setting.
Basis: The Union States is based loosely on the history, geography, and cultures of the United States of America. The states are renamed based on slight alterations of history (such as the state of Algonquin, named after the language of the native people in the area).
Consent: Consent laws are built into their equivalent of the Constitution, and as such, are a big deal.
Sex Ed: Different areas treat sex and the surrounding expectations quite differently, but all areas understand the importance of starting consent and sex education at a young age.
Labels: Sexual attractions are extremely varied and change over time. No one labels themselves by any category of attraction. So no one is 'gay' or 'bi' or 'lesbian' or 'straight' they just learn what features of people they are or are not attracted to at a given time. Fashion/Trend magazines did create various labels grouping various features which help speed up describing what a person is looking for at that time, so one might still hear someone described as a 'Twink' (for example) indicating a male of a smaller and thinner build wearing bright and tight clothing.
Family: Marriage is not a legal status. At most it can constitute a friendly contract or a statement of standing consent. A family unit is not legally defined and can constitute any of many pairings and bondings be they biological or emotional.
Nudity vs Sexuality: In general, the Union States is more accepting of nudity the further south one goes and more openly sexual the further east one goes.
The south eastern state of Flowerita is thus a state known for openly sexual nudists with frequent public orgies.
Further north, New Blackburn contains its orgies in darkened rooms, away from prying eyes. Sex is rampant, but always under covers or in the dark.
Meanwhile, at the rainy beaches of Neekpotchwy on the other side of the continent families will swim covered head to toe with barriers up to keep anyone from watching them.
In southern parts of San Avalon platonic nudity is commonplace, but any sexual contact must be performed within the bounds of a Consent Contract and sex between the ages of 14 and 24 is punishable by death.
There are pockets of exceptions to these general trends as well, such as the gambling city of Paradise. Despite being a southern desert at least moderate clothes are required for all outsiders, and despite how far west it is, casual hookups are common. There are even services which will help arrange sexual liaisons and theaters specializing in titillating or even blatant sexual displays. Step outside the small bustling city and the local norms are in effect.
