For awhile I have wanted to sit down, and write out a general life update. New Year’s Day seems like a good time to do it.
It’s strange to think that I have only been living in my house for less than a year and a half. For some reason, it seems longer. Buying a house was my major life goal for many years. Since I have accomplished that I don’t really have any major goals, beyond eventual retirement. This has left me a little directionless.
My physical training has also suffered from being directionless. Studying karate was one of the best things I ever did for myself. It gave me direction, and focus for my training, and provided powerful motivation. With a clear timeline, and goals I accomplished quite a bit. Without that structure, my training has suffered. I am mostly maintaining, and not gaining. I have found a pair of karate schools here in Barrie that I am very interested in joining. Realistically, though, I probably won’t be able to afford to join until summer 2019.
Work has been going very well for me. Taking the chance to switch departments was a very good choice. Though, there were some bumps, the department is growing well. This year, it should keep expanding, and 2019 should present even more opportunities.
My personal, and social life, are pretty good. In 2018, I am going to try to get out more, and be a bit more social. I definitely want to see more of my friends, and game more often. I am also going to look into adding something social during the week. Maybe find a club, or activity, in Barrie that I can take part in. Basically, I jut want to get out more, and maybe meet more people.
In 2018, I might end up taking in a boarder. Fortunately, it is not a necessity. However, I have been contacted by someone I know who may need a room in Barrie for awhile. If I do take on a boarder, it might allow me to join a karate school this year, instead of next year. Though, I will have to be careful. Especially if it might end up being a long-term arrangement.
