It's been three years since I've done one of these! That's an awful lot of time for the electroswing tunes to be piling up. This volume's starting list was ninety-four songs, but I managed to whittle them down to the best, badassest, boppin' 22 of the bunch. (Oh, and maybe a few bonus stocking-stuffers.) This is a good time for old-is-new music. In addition to electroswing, I've been seeing glitchswing and even trap swing. Plus Caravan Palace put out a mindblowing new album (I didn't put Lone Digger on here, figuring furries would have already seen the music video plenty). We've also had new infusions of old-timeyness from video games like Bendy and Cuphead. Plus I'm quite happy to have found Max Raabe and Das Palast Orchester. There's just one song of theirs on here, but you'll get the idea of what they do. PLUS, I'm spectacularly happy with Tha Trickaz cover of I've Got That Tune, as Chinese Man's version was one of my favorite tracks from the very first Old Is New.
I hope you enjoy this collection, and that it sends you off browsing everyone's albums, YouTube channels and Bandcamp pages. Now go pour yourself some eggnog, grab a fiesty looker, and swivel those hips to the bouncing beat!
