I’ve been thinking about commiss.io for a little while now. This would be after I’m done with my current commissions, probably, but I’m considering moving my business there. I’ve already checked out some of the inner workings of the site, and it seems like it has some nice features for my side of things. Since it’s specifically for this sort of business, it has relevant management tools and stuff. Also its creator is pretty cool to me.
I’ve got a justifiable preference right now for just using email and then sending an invoice to whoever via PayPal, but I might change that. I like that commiss.io doesn’t have the policy against smut that PayPal does, which has always been stupid as fuck considering how pretty much anything else seems to have been fair game. Though I think you need an account to see NSFW commission pages, which would be kind of a bummer.
There even seems to be a periodic donation feature in the works, owing to Patreon kind of shitting the bed recently (though to their credit, they appear to be cleaning up their mess w.r.t. extra fees). The only thing (AFAIK) I think it’s missing is some sort of joint commission system, where if multiple people want to discuss something with you or get a YCH, they can share messages and split the bill or something.
I guess it’s pretty likely that I’ll try using the site. I’d just like to know, if anyone has done business on it, as seller or buyer, whether you’ve liked or disliked anything about it that I’m not considering. If it sucks please tell me.

Since I wrote this journal, I have in fact moved to commiss.io, and I can add to the chorus of people saying it's a pretty good site. It also turns out that you don't need an account to view NSFW content or even commission someone in the first place, so that turned out to be even better than I expected. Without an account, a commissioner seems to access things mainly via special links in emails.
