The vote to kill net neutrality is a day away and I find it very concerning that hardly anyone seems to give a shit(if I'm wrong please tell me). Perhaps a reminder is in order. The livelihood of many artists who make content for this site is at stake. The possibility of losing audience is very real and not to be taken lightly. And if we're not lucky, other countries may follow suit and make the move to repeal net neutrality.
I also have to wonder if the staff here or on other websites similar to this are worried. If our internet becomes like cable and we have to pay separately for different packages, the chances of it being included is highly unlikely. We'd be lucky to even have the option to buy access to it. It would be a shame to have this site's access be throttled or blocked outright. Do you want this site to go into the shitter? Because that is a very real possibility with no more net neutrality.
It's not just art we have to worry about either. Gaming is another market that can be jeopardized as well. If you're a person who downloads digital copies of games, good luck running anything else on your system without hitting the data limit. We may also have to say good bye to online multiplayer. And the independent game developers? Good luck getting your foot in the door at all with the bullshit that will go down.
This is our last chance as a collective group of people to save this site. We need to set aside our petty dramas and gossip. Whether you're a cub artist, gore artist, hyper artist, or whatever fetish under the sun you specialize in, we have to stick together. Please be on the right side of history. Please let our congress know that unless they vote against the repeal, they will not be getting our votes come the midterm election. Hopefully tomorrow won't be the beginning of the end.
