Thor: Ragnarok

Well, now that I'm back from finally watching Thor: Ragnarok, I find myself ...conflicted. From the trailers, I knew that it was going to try to be more like Guardians of the Galaxy, but I hoped that.. being Marvel, they'd know not to stray too far.

After the movie had been released, my hopes were further bolstered by how many people truly seemed to have loved it.

Love... That is one thing of mine that THAT movie does not have.

They strayed so far from the vibes of the previous two movies....  tried to add so much of a different formula in...
If you were to watch the first two Thor movies, and then watch Ragnarok, it's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

You'd think that with Marvel being owned by Disney, someone would have given them the memo about how too much comic relief, and it doesn't take a whole lot to be too much, IS A BAD THING. This felt a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy 2, in that regard...
If you jam pack comedy into every single moment, not only is the humor lessened by the fact that you always know yet another punch line is just around the corner, you also drastically lessen the emotional impact of serious moments that didn't need said comic relief in the first place.

Ugh... maybe this is Disney's doing after all....

Going past that, I seriously have issues as well with the pacing. You are never given time to gain any sort of appreciation over new characters. Likewise, with things that seriously changed up previous interpretations of peoples, places, events... there too, you aren't given adequate time for any sort of emotional response. Were they trying to pack too much into a single movie? Were they afraid of making it longer??  I just don't understand decisions they made..

There were genuine things that I would have loved to learn more about.. new characters, and some old characters that I would have liked to know more backstory on. but they never gave it.. never allowed things to blossom...

Heck, even the camera shots were a bit weird when it came to... rushed pacing. So many switches that were a bit too abrupt.. that lacked a more smooth transition...

Adding all of that to the fact that they just... blatantly went against previously established character personalities, and had weird areas in plot that seriously could have used some more explaining (Hulk), I just... I've been left with a bad taste in my mouth... and more disappointment from Marvel, whom I have higher expectations of.

personaly..as a major thor fan i really liked it.. honestly it was alot closer to most of the thor source material as well He has allways been a little camp and to be honest... as much as I ador thor, literaly my favorite marvel hero... his first two movies were two of the weaker ones in the movie line up.

Especialy Dark world...dark world was just... mediocure.

he SINED in avengers 1 and 2 however so did Loki =p the casting is fantastic. I can see how you might dislike it however it realy IS a pretty big departure in feel from the first two wich tried to be serius with the material.

this ones still not all that goofy, just a bit more buddy action comady.

When it comes to Hulk, you have to remember he's only allowed to experience the world on rare occasion. So he doesn't really talk. But in this movie he has been the Hulk for like two years.

As for Thor, that's a combination of things. First and foremost, the actor. Chris Hemsowrth was getting bored with the whole Shakespearean style character. On top of that he also helped pick out the director, who has only done lower budget movies.

I have issues with the movie, but it's mostly to do with how they trashed the original gladiators from the Planet Hulk comics, and turned them into comic relief. The movie itself, I quite enjoyed, and found it WAY better than the first two Thor movies. I always found they were boring. I think removing Jane Foster from the equation really breathes life into the movie.
