So. It's been a little while now since the last release of a From Chaos chapter. Let me just start by saying, I haven't forgotten it. I guess you could say I’ve been doing a mix of neglecting it and considering if it was even worth continuing. That said, I want to say I’m sorry for that, as well as not saying or doing much of anything since last June.
Let me go into a little history, if you’re willing to read. When I first started FC, I went into it haphazardly. There was next to no planning done, and with the few things that I did “plan” on (but didn’t plan out), all of which I can count with one hand, I had no explanations for things, and in some cases I didn’t even have any long term consequences in mind for what I wanted to achieve, going as far as stuff showing itself in another story set in the same place, for instance. And even further, I didn't have any worldbuilding done aside from the basics that you all have read, and a little bit in the second chapter that I finished and detested. In short, I wanted a story with depth, and I wasn't delivering. Not to my followers, and not to myself.
Thus, I was ready to quit FC, leave it behind, and maybe try something new. Yet something in my heart wouldn’t let me do it. I felt that way months after the first chapter was published. But recently, inspired directly by the work that a friend and I share together, I began undertaking a new project. A Pokémon alternate universe, set in a region mostly untouched by mankind. A place where Pokémon (and my creativity) roam freely, have built limited technological advances (think kinda medieval-ish maybe), and forge factions out of towns and cities, as well as other things I’m considering. All with as many kinds of reasonable and fleshed out details as possible. Enough to make a comparatively small wiki out of, which I would say has kind of been my dream goal. One that admittedly I've been chasing the idea of, which is making some kind of detailed world. I actually didn’t recognize that until I started drafting this journal. X3
Anyways, as development continued, I always had this question. “How would I introduce people to what I'm trying to create? How can I make it interesting?” I briefly thought of the idea of merging the vastly undeveloped and slightly incompatible FC, but I denied the idea. I thought it would be impossible. Yet still, I restlessly thought of what I could do to introduce my ideas. After all, the whole plan, in the end, was to make a universe or AU where I could make multiple stories that are spanning different historical periods of this weird fantasy place, where I want to start introducing and explaining concepts that I find interesting along the way.
Then, recently, as I explained more in depth of the future of From Chaos to a reader, a wild idea appeared. What if I tried my absolute best to make my AU project and FC work with each other? At first, I thought I was silly, but then I remembered that there's so little FC lore that making them compatible might be crazy enough to work. The only issues are the timeline and naming systems, but I can rework the former and work around the latter. In fact, I'd say I've already done the second one. So in short, I have no excuse to not try. On top of that, merging these two projects is a huge boon for adding concepts to explain some things for FC that I’ve had on my mind for months.
So that's what's on my mind for the moment. Buuut as for the current submissions of FC: assuming this works, I have some ideas in mind to add a few scenes to give more character to the people I've introduced, as well as more reason for situations that you've read and more to come. I want to make it memorable, and I think I know just the way to try doing that whenever and if I ever get the chance. Oh, and I also want to bring it up to par with how I write now. Can't forget that part. c: But either way, this AU project and merging it with FC could take a while. I don’t even have a guesstimate as to how long it may take. So I hope you all stick around until then.
TL;DR , I might be merging From Chaos with another project to try to make it a richer experience to read. It's currently a work-in-progress. If it works, I'll be revisiting old chapters to bring them up to par and make as many additions as I see fit, possibly making it worth rereading.
