How I feel about Sonic Forces...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKfSrlMPv5g
Exactly how I feel. Literally every point he makes is the same I felt, EXCEPT I liked the music. Give this a watch if you're curious if the game is good or not.

Sorry Blazey. I disagree. I love the game. It is currently my favourite Sonic game I overall would give it a 9 out of 10 BUT you get free DLC with the game. 5 costumes and a full prequel story to the main game which any game that has free DLC gets a huge amount of respect from me so my 9 out of 10 for this game gets pushed to a 10 out of 10 just for the free DLC. I love the game and I honestly respectfully disagree with you and Some Call Me Johnny.

It's all good! :) I dont think it's good but that's just opinion, not fact! I'm glad others are enjoying it.

Meanwhile, my thoughts on the game are pretty much exactly this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwPulTp1OwY

The boost formula really needs to be tossed out and replaced with something new already; modern Sonic can't coast on that style of play much longer.  Also, as a fan of both the Archie and Fleetway Sonic comics, I very much feel that this game took some slight inspiration from the darker tone that both continuities used; but didn't grab any of the charm to go along with it.  It feels like a story that would have been in the comics, just...  Nowhere near fleshed out enough.

I liked the darker tone and story but it was so lame and underwhelming in game. Oh well, haha.

I wish to state they could made this game like the old Sonic SAT AM or archies comic

SEGA will never recognize those ever again, lol

On the plus side, it's also much less likely SEGA will come after anybody who uses the characters in fan projects, compared to game canon

That means the game is sound prime for someone to tear it apart and mod it to remake the Sonic SAT AM.  With the character creator means there is abilite to add more assets to make better customizing options

I don't think you realize how difficult it is to mod Sonic games. SEGA uses a lot of proprietary formats - fans haven't even cracked SA2 yet (which is necessary to remake the models with new outfits and better texture maps).

There are also probably a whopping 2 or 3 people in the world who've ever made a 3D Sally model, and one of them is the 'official' 3D model artist for Archie

Then you have to redo all the voice acting and associated scenes... which are prerecorded FMVs...

Your right....set up a patreon !!!!  Actual yes modding in any game that is not bethesta is difficult, but can be done, just the sonic fan base is not determine to work with such uninspiring work

Skyrim is actually very difficult to mod, especially compared to Oblivion. Then there's ESO, which has official (and therefore moderated) addons that keep expiring every few weeks with minor patches -_-

Actually, Forces seems to be quite similar to the Fleetway Sonic comics, or maybe even a tribute to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_njHqPmK5f8

I think Sonic Forces is tolerable.  I mean, I'm having fun playing it.  It might not the best, but it's fun.

My take is this. On paper this game sounds like a good idea with a decent premise and some interesting features, but like with pretty much everything in the Sonic franchise these days the execution leaves much to be desired. The game had an interesting set up in terms of the storyline, unfortunately they just didn't go far enough with it in my opinion. For what they were trying to accomplish Sonic and co are still way too upbeat for the situation they find themselves in, particularly in the case of Sonic who's supposed to have spent the past 6 months in the game being imprisoned and tortured by Eggman.

Knuckles was about the only character this game did any favors, everyone else is just kinda there for the sake of it. A campaign or story mode centering around playing each character individually like they tried in Adventure 1 or 2 could have really helped give a sense of scope and flesh out how each character was coping with losing ground in the war. Would have been better than letting them flounder around as a framing device for the stages narrative for either of the Sonics and “Buddy the Rookie”.

On that note it’s also rather annoying to see all the character development Tails received over the past decade just thrown out the window at the beginning of the game. They really went out of their way to regress him back to being incapable of doing anything without Sonic being there to hold his hand even before things even really got started. Out of everyone he seems to be the only character that was really unable to cope with Sonic apparent “death” while everyone else just kinda coast through it.

Sega has made Tails cripplingly codependent to the point he’s useless if Sonic isn’t around. And if we’re being honestly quite frankly this is behavior I would have expected to see more out of Amy given how obsessed she is with Sonic. I feel like this game was a wasted opportunity for both characters (Tails & Amy) to receive some much needed development and growth as characters without having Sonic around to influence everything they do.

As for the create a character feature, while I find the idea pretty cool I personally feel that Sega could have taken steps to make the customization a bit more diverse/personalized for each of the different templates. There really isn’t much in the way of variety aesthetically speaking when all the characters are basically just a pallet swap variation of the same template. And while it’s cool that they wanted to include these custom characters into the storyline in a major capacity, I don’t really think it was necessary in the capacity in which it was handled. Perhaps in a separate campaign detailing events of the war in another cell running parallel to the events of the main story but given that we’ll likely never see this character again outside this game it felt needless to make them so intricately tied to the plot of such an apparently major event.
