Death Valet: The Pitch

Hi folks, let me tell you about a story I've been working on the past four years...

~

Death Valet is set in a world shared by humans, anthros, paranormal beings (and humanoid variations of multiple creatures), and all kinds of weirdness, including resurrected historical figures and gods.

Humans and anthros have been living openly alongside the paranormal for a few centuries now, just not everywhere. There's usually higher concentrations of paranormals in larger cities, most especially Hetelville, Florida. The first city to actively allow and encourage paranormals to take up residence.

However, while there's plenty of good natured paranormals, just like human beings, there's plenty of bad apples in them too. But the criminally minded or psychotic among them, plus any particularly dangerous or hard to catch criminals or threats, can be just as easily countered by monster hunters. Versatile, over the top and often eccentric bounty hunters who can handle a diverse array of threats.

But even they need help now and then. Alistair Garth, a monster hunter who also is the best active hunter on Earth, is unable to drive due to having digitigrade legs. And he's finally had enough of cabbies and Uber overcharging the SHIT out of him. So now he wants to hire a valet.

Enter our other main character, Winston Pike. A human from Richmond, Virginia who's had a hard life due to his college nemesis Joshua Sanchez, who grew into the single biggest crimelord on Earth, making his life a living hell since he left it. Winston has never encountered paranormal beings his whole life, and really, REALLY needs a job after Josh finally got rid of his only other occupation.
As it happens, Alistair Garth really hates bribery and Sanchez even more than those. So Winston's attempting to risk his neck by applying for the job.

Which he gets, but considering how life threatening danger is not his forte (as opposed to cooking), he's gonna want to fix that learning curve.

The story covers a few months, starting from when Winston starts working for Alistair, as he gets caught up in the 'last job' of Alistair's archenemy, a tiger master thief named Ednit Mritue, and into another plan of Joshua Sanchez as he schemes to dispose of the monster hunters. As he grows into this weird, amazing and dangerous world he makes his new home.

Death Valet was influenced by a large number of things, including anime, Borderlands, Dreamkeepers and plenty more. To some degree it's sort of like a coming of age story, one set in an outlandish setting. I've been working on it for years, and it is with great pride that I continue to work towards creating it. I'll enjoy having it brought to life, and I truly hope you enjoy it too.
