Just a heads-up about Patreon

Hey guys, if you're an artist and are watching me, Just be very careful about even sharing stuff on Patreon now. They're very serious about the content you post and share on that site. If you can, please relay this to other artists who have Patreon as well.

I'll just go ahead and post this message. A friend of mine had contacted the Patreon Trust and Safety team, and this is what they had to say:

I wanted to provide you some clarification as well: Because of the anthropomorphic nature of furries, it means that we will look at this kind of work under the same lens as humans. This is why any sexualized depiction of a minor needs to be removed in any and all of your content, including in the links you share with your patrons currently or in the future.

So guys, Just be warned that Patreon is cracking down on any form of fictional minors, whether it is lolicon, shotacon, or cub. They don't want porn of any fictional minors on their site. To add, the team will be cracking down on any links you send to your patrons if it contains anything that contains content that violates their ToS. So any paywalls you have, it might be better to look elsewhere, like HicceArs.

Pretty sure this might cause some sort of mass exodus from Patreon at this point, because holy fuck, policing people’s links is a good way to tell people “we don’t give two fucks about your privacy in the slightest” since I’m sure this would reach into PMs as well

"The links you share with your Patrons" is likely to include PMs, because that's the primary way that Patreon creators send links to Patrons. They do this because of the "post to all processed Patrons" feature which stops scammers and bots from getting Patron-only content.

As someone who only really lurks here because of FA's shit, and has seen the kind of mentality that enables major sites and companies to do whatever with very minimal consequence no matter the outrage, trust me. Most folks won't give a damn if they don't think it directly affects them in a serious manner.

Do what ya'll gotta do. Whether it's looking for an offsite host that is agreed on as "standard" here and relaying passwords via PMs on Patreon instead of links, or finding another Patreon-like altogether. Just know that much like FA, there will be no "mass exodus", unfortunately as I also take issue with the matter on simple privacy grounds. In fact, most of them will retort with "If you're worried about privacy, you're hiding something. If you've got nothing to hide, why does it matter that they're reading?"

Such is the modern world and modern stupidity, unfortunately. Sorry to hear it's affecting ya'll like this still.
