Had to Factory Reset my OS.

Windows 10 has given more problems than any other OS I've ever used.

And I started on Windows 3.0 and 95 way back in the day.

Sigh...

Getting situated in a new version of Widows is always a pain in the ass. But at least it runs better now.

PS: Art is coming, I promise. I've had a hell of a fucking two weeks.

If you need me, please feel free to PM me or send me an IM on discord or Skype, or come by the Ink Bunny Discord. I'm always around somewhere.

EDIT: I lost all my fucking SAI settings... Thank god I have an eidetic memory.

I WAS happy with it until the Content Creator Update.

Now it's giving me nothing but problems. I went in and disabled updates manually.

I did plan on doing that every week, then I got busy with Haunted House and got extremely sick.

They'll resume, don't worry. ;3

I updated while it was free last year, I think?

I was hoping for Dx12, but we all know how that went. lol

I like 7 and hated 8, so I didn't want 10.
What pissed me off about Win10 was when Microsoft was forcing Win10 on their users and installing it when people's computers were set with auto-update. They'd come home from work or get up in the morning and Win10 would be installed on their PC and their copy of 7 or 8 would be gone.
I wish you luck with your PC my friend.
MakoRuu

Yeah, they're a bunch of assholes over at Microsoft.

Make sure to disable Windows updates in Services of you're using Windows 10.

I recently change to Win7 to Win10, it's feel weird, but my only complait is some software dont work on win10 like my coreldraw x6, now I need to buy another license >:(

That's bullshit.

Just get SAI like I did. There are a ton of free versions left out there.

Windows ten wont let me play fallout 1 and 2 and it prevented me from the kotor 2 mod i wanted qwq
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
You have to run it in compatibility mode as an administrator. I got KoToR to work like that. (But you need the unofficial patch or it crashes every ten minutes.)

Come, join us on Linux! ;3
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
I had Red Hat in the 90's. It was a pain in the ass to get windows programs to run on it.

Maybe when Linux has more game support I'll make the switch.
Teisu
6 years, 5 months ago
Things have changed a lot since then, and gaming wise, we're growing! A lot.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
If Linux ever gets the native support of Windows for gaming I'll fucking jump right in. lol
Teisu
6 years, 5 months ago
We have steam games. A lot of them xD and for the occasional game that's windows exclusive, There's Wine. (there's another program to help with that, whose name I can't remember)
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
Yeah, but I'm told Wine requires a very powerful system, and it doesn't support everything.
Teisu
6 years, 5 months ago
You sure you ain't mixing up wine & VirtualBox? The later DOES require a powerful system. The former? Neh, not so much. Wine is not an emulator, but a compatibility layer. Think About it as you Speaking Spanish, going for a dictionary and this being in Turkish. Wine would basically "translate it" to a readable format. As for it not supporting everything? Partially true. Programs that are native to windows (like Microsoft office word or Internet explorer) wouldn't work as they require a lot of native libraries. Other programs work perfectly well. There are cases where a program wouldn't "behave" at first, but nothing to be worried: besides a few exceptions, most cases can be worked out with ease! Just check the forums. They have info about it there.

I don't know, just what I've read around on the forums.

What Windows needs to do is release an open source OS
I wouldn't mind if it was not freebie shareware like Linux.
Though an open source version of Windows would be the way to go
Especially for fixing niggling details like playing DirectX9 games with Win10 and DirectX11
The memory allocation hard cap for DX9 games could easily be fixed. But Microsoft refuses to do anything about it. Because the problem affects only gamers. And they don't care. Gave the question of fixing that issue a hard "no".
Ironic, seeing as they have their hands in the market with Xbox and should at least pretend to care about the people using their products for that kind of entertainment. A second year programmer could easily do this. But they cannot. Because Windows is not open source.

For instance Skyrim does not make use of DirectX 11's Tesselation, Multi-threaded Rendering or DirectCompute. For all intents and purposes, It's a DirectX 9 game. Which uses some DirectX10 resources. Windows refuses to patch things like this. However a determined keystroke warrior could easily fix it.
KaloTheSkunk
6 years, 5 months ago
Easy to see why such a detail is irrelevant to the company. On the whole, it affects only a niche market. A market they are willfully ignoring despite the pies they have their fingers in.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
If they did that they wouldn't make as much money. And Intel and Microsoft are all about that paper.
KaloTheSkunk
6 years, 5 months ago
While that is true. Unlocking an older though now unsupported version could make sense.
Like Win7 for instance. It was a fairly nice operating system.
Do as you wish with it. Choosing to unlock the OS could be the users choice. However once it is, the product key is voided. If you break anything, there will be no support from the parent company. No mulligans of any kind besides backups you've made.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
That's the risk you take, though.
KaloTheSkunk
6 years, 5 months ago
Yea. They could try something like that. It both is not current, and its updates have ceased. No harm in trying
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
If Linux ever gets the support Windows has without emulators and complications I'll make the switch.
Weiss

MakoRuu

To me, that's even worse. lol

Windows 2000 Professional.

Easily the greatest Windows OS to ever exist.

I used windows 10 for a while. I REALLY did try to like it, but I went back to windows 7 myself. Even bought a win 7 for my new c that came with 10. I'll wait a few years to see if they get all the bugs ironed out.

P.S I personally started out in dos 5.0 myself :)
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
It ain't so bad. What happened is that stupid fucking Content Creator Update wrecked everything.

Before that it was fine. I only had the occasional hiccup where an older program wouldn't work.
curtainshowers
6 years, 5 months ago
The only good thing I can say about Windows 10 is that it's better than Windows 8. So glad I still run 7.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
Just like 98E, and XP, and 2k, you'll eventually be forced into upgrading.
curtainshowers
6 years, 5 months ago
Hopefully they'll have made something decent by then. I didn't think it was possible after Vista. Otherwise I might have to switch to Linux.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
If Linux had the gaming support that Windows does I'd have switched fucking years ago, mate.
curtainshowers
6 years, 5 months ago
Yeah, that's the biggest drawback. I think there's ways to get around it but I'd rather not deal with the headache unless I have to.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
There's a program called Wine, that lets you run Windows Games and applications in Linux.

But it doesn't run so well, and not everything is supported.
MrTrump
6 years, 5 months ago
Yeah windows 10 sucks! But sadly I have to use it for my new gaming pc
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
Hopefully they'll fix it one day.

I think I just had too much conflicting software.
AlienMarksman

Even more trouble than WinME?

Currently I'm using Win10 64bit, and havn't had a problem.
But the fact I built a new pc around knowing I'll be using it probably helps.

I consider myself fortunate I'm a bit of a hold out on OS's and stick with a known working one till long after everyone else has changed, often missing entire versions. So my OS history is rather short. 3.0, 3.1, 98, 2K, XP, 7, 10.
Not counting Dos before the release of 3.0
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
I only used Windows ME for like four months. And I never had any problems with it.

Windows has always acted weird for me when I upgrade, that's why I always do a fresh reinstall after upgrading.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
That's a pain in the ass, though.

Cause settling in to an OS takes fucking weeks.
Retired1
6 years, 5 months ago
I don't get what you're trying to say.

Upgrade > get key > reinstall
The very first thing you do after upgrading.

When reinstalling, all old data is stored in a .old folder.
All other harddrives aren't affected at all.
MakoRuu
6 years, 5 months ago
I know, but changing your settings, reinstalling all that software and drivers, steam, games, video codecs.

It's takes a while to get used to everything. (At least, for me it does.)
Retired1
6 years, 5 months ago
Having the software on the second drive, and putting all libraries on that drive too, along with the start menu icons; and making sure you install the portable version of the software ... after reinstalling Windows, redirect the libraries back to the second drive again and your stuff will show up once more. Desktop, start menu and all that will be back. No need to install any software, even Steam.
MakoRuu

That's kind of like what I do, but my slave is 5400 RPM. Not good for games or media.
