Grace of the Nine-Fingers

No, don't worry, I didn't actually lose a finger. Nor have I been in any life-and-death struggles with mutated Hobbits on the top of a volcano. But my niece did manage to accidentally slam my finger in the car door. It's not broken, thank goodness, but it's bruised and painful and if I'm slow to respond to people that's why.

On the bright side(?), aunt Grace managed to teach her young nieces a couple of new words they were made to promise they'd never repeat at school. Oops!

I'm sure they will. They're good girls and they keep their word to their aunt Grace.

And thanks!

It hurt like blazes, but I think it scared more than anything. I was half convinced it was broken at first, but I went to have it looked at and I got lucky.

And thanks!

Oh, no doubt. But as long as they do so at home, or at my house, it'll be okay. We just don't want them to use foul language in public.

Thanks! I'm just glad it wasn't worse. I got it looked at and nothing's broken for sure, just bruised.

Car door? Was it a solid slam or did it drift close? Either way you got LUCKY.
Get some ice, some whiskey, and get your girlfriend to handle things now that you're legally disabled.

My nine-year-old niece slammed it shut. It didn't actually latch, though, since we were parked on a slight hill. Still hurt like a motherfucker, though. Ice and whisky have been gotten, and I'm sure my girl would be more than happy to, um, handle things if I asked her to.

"Watch me, I'll do the fingering." - Micheal Fassbender in Alien covenant
If it continues to hurt in about 3-4 days consider consulting a doctor about hairline fractures.
My sister gets them occasionally almost without noticing until it's really hitting her later on.

Ah, David, making narcissism a high art! He was the best thing about that movie.

I've had a doctor look at it already so I think I'll be okay, but I'll be sure to go back if I think I should. But thanks!

-hugs- Poor thing, be careful~ |3
The ship and vehicles were my favorite bits. As fascinating as David was, I liked Walter better (I hope he was intact enough to show up in the franchise again, at least in a game XD).

I'd like to see Walter come back, too. Somebody has to put David in his place, and I think it's only right that that task should fall to his "brother". But I think I should have been clearer in that it was Fassbender's performance, as both Walter and David, that I really liked. The others did a good job, for the most part, but I thought Fassbender stole the show.

-giggles- Fair enough, and yeah, I agree about the acting. X3
I love technology stuff and all the details and doodads, so the film was very satisfying for me in that regard, too. Especially since some of the production crew posted concept art and 3d modelling/rendering stuff on their ArtStation accounts.~

LOL!  That does suck, I'm glad it's been a while since I've slammed a finger in any door!

Well I am sure the niece felt guilty, she learned a new word, and didn't get a switch on her backside as punishment. So its all good, except for your poor finger, hurts to move it I bet. might want to try splinting it up just in case.

It was purely an accident, so no, she wasn't punished at all. Besides, my sis doesn't believe in spanking and has vowed to kick the ass of anyone else who tries. As an elementary school principal once learned the hard way. As for my finger, it's bandaged and splinted courtesy of my trip to the hospital to get it checked out. I did that first thing.

Poor thing... Glad it's not broken though.

I had a similar event where I tried to help my mom, and opened the door of her SUV only for her to turn around at the wrong moment and bang her head into the door, leaving a welt the size of an egg on her forehead... Still feel guilty about it to this day.

*Sits in Grace's lap, wriggles into it* I'mma stay here until you heal up.
