Which Art Program ?

So, for years I was using Photoshop CS4 to colour, doing my linework using nothing more than a mouse and a polygonal lasso tool. (Try not to think what kind of patience you need to make that crap work).

I've only started using a tablet for inkwork about a year ago, and thanks to a friend I used Krita instead of Photoshop for my colouring and linework. But there are some limitations; there are some things that Photoshop had that Krita doesn't, and its stuff I need to make a picture pretty.

My usual tools are as follows:-

- Need a "select all paint on layer" function or equivalent for an easy colour swap
- Need something that can import diferent premade brushes made by the general public for use (and when I say this, i mean fancy brushes like lace patterns and stuff like that)
- Need something where the lines drawn by a pen on a large canvas (say, 4000 x 4000 pixels) will be smooth and won't leave weird lines (like what photoshop would do).

I heard some suggestions like using Clip Studio Paint, SAI, and other stuff but i'm not sure which one's the best fit. I have SAI, and it has some nifty functions, but I still gravitate towards Krita if for no other reason than me being used to its shortcuts at the present moment.

Any suggestions? :D

You have a thousand options. The cheap way is using SAI for lineart and Photoshop for color/shading and texturing. If you are ok to spend a few bucks, grab Clip Studio Paint. You can work an awesome lineart with it and it has great tools for color/shading as well. It also helps you when working with comics. One disadvantage is that, custom brushes are kinda limited to the community, unlike photoshop.

Other software you might want to test is Krita.

PD: CSP offers discounts pretty often

The oldest version I used to work was CS3, worked correctly. Then CS5 and at the moment im using CC 2018. Photoshop is top tier. Even if you are fine with Krita or CSP, I'd suggest you to use Photoshop often, at least for texturing.

Everyone is going to say something diffrent based on what they are use to.

I started and mainly used Sai while I was learning, now its hard to swap to another program.

Krita is great especially since its free and runs off donations, and also that auto-save feature <3

like Ale said csp is great but has its limitations.(and for its price id rather get a free program that does not have said limitations) though i own csp as well....

All in all id say pick 1 or 2, get use to them, stick with them, most limitations in the software can be overcome with some tinkering.
