Random-ends and Random-odds

1. Been thinking about various shows that are Halloween-related that people might've missed, so here's a few I thought of:

A) Kamen Rider Kiva: A fairly old Hesei Kamen Rider series, it talks about a damphire (half-human, half-vampire), fighting against his own kind with a group of helper monsters. It really has a dark, spooky nature to it, from how the Rider henshins (by literally having his living buckle bite him to give him his powers), to the designs of the monsters (which look like twisted animalistic creatures made out of stained glass), and there's even the helper monsters are based on old-timey and classic halloween beings, like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein's Monster, and a Wolfman, all living under house arrest in a dragon/castle hybrid. Has a bit of a hokey time travel plot, near the end, with the Rider looking into his family history, but beyond that, it's rather cool.

B) Filmation Ghost Busters: Everyone knows about the Bill Murray/Dan Akroyd hit movie duology and the cartoon the spawned from it, but not many know about the Filmation version, which is based on a live-action TV show back in the 60's or so, I think, involving a pair of stooges with a talking gorilla fighting monsters. Even as I type this up, I can hear the theme song in my head, and it's incredibly catchy. Surprised there's not been any porn of them, yet, that I've seen...

C) Secrets of the Crypt Keeper's Haunted House: Essentially an attempt to redo Fun House or Legends of the Hidden Temple using the Tales from the Crypt set (for some weird reason), this was a short-lived children's game show that used 3D tech along with normal stuntwork to provide challenges to a pair of teams of 2. It even culminated in a slog through the titular Haunted House itself, gathering up skulls to stick on a pike in order to win. It's incredibly cheesy, and the Crypt Keeper himself provides commentary on the games, so if you're into that kind of thing, go for it.

D) The Worst Witch: It has Tim Curry as a flamboyant master warlock singing. Why are you still reading this?

E) Skeleton Warriors: Sadly short-lived cartoon about a cursed king that can turn anyone evil into an undead, immortal skeleton soldier for his army, and the heir to the throne and his loyalists fighting against his tyranny. It even has a half-zombie good guy that can teleport through shadows that befriends a wolf that somehow can track him on ground as he's teleporting. Try wrapping your head around that.

2. I heard that there was an attempt to explain why, in the Marvel universe, humans were fearful and hateful against mutants, but not against the other superpowered heroes in the world; supposedly, unlike the latter who got their powers artificially, the former naturally have them, and that makes humanity fear for their survival, if mutants replace them. I don't buy it; it might've worked in the 50's and 60's, when there weren't a whole lot of superheroes going around, giving the nature vs. nurture take on superpowers in mutants more credence, but nowadays, practically 90% of the superpowered being in the world are aliens, science experiments gone wrong, or magically imbued, and even now, people are still debating on whether homosexuality is genetic or not, so honestly, I would think that, the more Superheroes that AREN'T mutants become more popular and accepted in their continuity, the more mutants themselves become more accepted, since there's much more of a precedent for how they can turn out than back when the comics were starting out.

3. In a commentary for one of the first three Batman movies (I forgot which), the BSC crew discussed whether Val Kilmer or George Clooney tried to change up their voices as Batman in their movies. For the most part, it's agreed that they didn't, but they never elaborated on why. I've got an idea, though: if you look at how much dialogue there is for Batman compared to Bruce Wayne per movie, you'll see that, for the Tim Burton films, there's much more of an emphasis on the latter character speaking than the former; there's very little dialogue for Batman proper in those movies. Compare that to Forever or Batman and Robin, where Batman exposits and cracks one-liners much more frequently. I'd imagine that Kilmer and especially Clooney thought they couldn't sustain the change of voice for Batman through all of that dialogue without it ruining their throat, so they didn't even try. I also suspect this is partly why Christian Bale's Batman voice was so raspy; he tried to do a change of voice, but the amount of dialogue he was given wasn't compatible with that.

4. What about Doggie Kruger made him so much of a furry sex icon, compared to the other, non-human Rangers since then? I mean, I've seen little porn of the Beast Fist Masters from Gekiranger, Wise God Torin from Kyoryuger, any of the Zyumans from Zyuohger, or the Rangers from Kyuranger. The closest I've seen is of the Kyuranger's dragon mentor, Shou Ronpou, but he's mostly been regulated to being commissioned by one fur on here. No doubt, Doggie is very sexy, but is he sexier than the others to get such high esteem in the fandom?
