Today I was supposed to get some minor surgery done to my back to remove an abscess.
Well... It won't be happening today.
Turns out there's structural damage. I'll actually need a bigger surgery operation.
The abscess has spread and formed a kind of tunnel under my skin. Both the abscess and the tunnel will need to be cut out.
He said because of where it is, stitching won't be possible. So I'll have a big hole. They'll fill it with sterile dressing that needs to be changed every day until the wound eventually closes itself. Nurses will be visiting every day to change the dressings. What was supposed to only take me a few days to recover from, will take me several months, maybe even longer.
I honestly don't know how to feel about this.
They'll send a new appointment when they get it arranged.
