PLAYBOY Magazine founder Hugh Hefner has passed away at age 91. I would be remiss if I did not raise a glass in tribute to a man who, for a half century, produced a magazine that printed cartoons that were a template for what I am doing now—here's proof Nutmeggin'. Practically everything I post is informed by a Playboy-cartoon joie de vivre. Here's to you, Mr. Hefner, warts and all. I admire you. ^!^
There was a curious rumor that Hugh Heffner indicated on the cover of each issue of PlayBoy how many times he scored that month. The stars indicated the number of conquests. In 1979 the stars abruptly stopped, and guys speculated that he had become impotent then.
Actually the stars were part of a distribution code, according to advertizing so that each copy would go to a part of the U.S.A. with that advertizing. In 1979 a new system was put in place that didn't use the stars.
