Hurricane Irma

by
Yeah, for those that know I live in Florida & have a pretty decent impact on my life from Hurricane Irma. The good news is that there's nothing horrible. I live in Jax, about 150 miles from where the eye passed. We didn't have it too bad until the day after when we made records for flooding & water damage. Still, my house is 60 feet above sea level & in a protected grove. We made it out without any damage or problems to make anything of. The last few days have been spent helping my less fortunate neighbors (like Black Creek which crested at 26 feet above flood).

We are Floridians. We know the price of living in "paradise." We know the discomfort of post-storm problems. Yet we stay here in the face of adversity & we will rebuild. Life will go on & we will be there.

Glad to hear you guys made it through up there. My residents is also pretty high above sea level. I only lost some shingles off the roof and a LOT of tree limbs. Town had a lot of downed trees and had no power for a few days. Everyone is working fast to clean things up. Can hardly tell a hurricane hit my street now.

Glad you made it through with only a little trouble! The rest of Jacksonville got some bad problems but our height saved us. Either way - Florida. We do the thing.

It's pretty much a given among us here in the "Sunshine State." The local media has been all over statements like that. Mine is juts my personal take on it. I've lived in Florida since 1980 & have adjusted to the payment of paradise. Happily, my husband & I bought a house well within a safe zone so we don't have the threatening issues a lot of Floridians do.
