Both projects seem to have a relatively long history, and appear meet their primary goals of letting artists collaborate on a shared canvas. But Drawpile is open source and cross-platform (Windows/Mac/Linux), and developed by a furry fan, who has been very responsive to bug reports and frequently releases new versions. And you can have huge canvasses, with history, quite efficiently (since it's all just drawing commands).

Flockmod is closed-source, doesn't support Linux, and is based on Adobe Flash, which is going away soon. (It's possible Adobe AIR will be able to target HTML5, but I'll believe it when I see it, especially for tablets.)

Long-term I think Drawpile has the brighter future. You can even run your own server, not just host a room.

Nice! Thanks for the input. Been trying to find ways to work on the same canvas with several artists at once. If I can convince others to use Drawpile, I'll be sure to follow that route.
