why is it people on here keep praising this site saying its so much better  when all I've been seeing is a whole lot of drama . Like its not that great of a site if that's all you get is the same drama thrown in your face and yes I have ignored it but when its being brought up by several other users then yeah its frigin pathetic its just getting old  :/

Furries love drama, heck one "girl" here loves it so much she gravitates to it like a fly to shit, I think she might actually have no life outside of just being here for the drama. Furries will never change in that sense, they won't stop being petty, they won't stop being victims, and they won't stop bullying others even though they preach peace and love.

Now this site is better than others because of how it works, it has a way to block keywords, a way to suggest keywords, a way to make posts private, or for friends only, pooling submissions way before FA's shitty folder system, the ability to let watchers know when a submission was updated, the ability to post multiple images to one submission (like if you had a comic or a bunch of art by one person and you didn't wanna make it into a bunch of submissions). The PM system allows you to search for a certain note from users based off of name or subject and it keeps everything in order so that it can't be altered without photoshop, the ability to block people's submissions along with the person is a good thing if you don't want to see anything from that person, you can also choose what you want to watch someone for, and the admins here help more than hurt, I've seen GreenReaper go to people and tell them "Hey you may wanna read up on rules (insert rules link here) before you do this thing" like he helps the users understand the rules to this place over just instantly throwing down the ban hammer. The list goes on as to why this place is better as a whole.

As for the drama, I don't follow many people,  and I don't follow people who are into drama or spreading it or creating it or have it around themselves, so maybe its the company you keep that gived the illusion of drama rather than one place is more toxic than another. I dropped a lot of people when I quit FA for good and I noticed my life improved significantly and became drama free from doing so.

Maybe figure out who is the real source of drama and maybe try to avoid them?

Also that "girl" who lives for drama is De*q**a I'm sure someone can decipher the name.

yeah but people here swear by this site as being friendly but there set is better but then again it seems to if you want to get any where on here you have to draw ether what every one else is into or cub smut its a never ending cycle here and its so tiring

Oh yeah that whole nutshell of not getting to draw what you like and only getting attention for the flavor of the week... That's just mob mentality tbh :/ all sites have it, I remember when DA hated anything not Naruto and FA hated anything not MLP and when YouTube hated anything that wasn't its current YT stars

I think a reasonable question in that case is "where do you want to go?"

If you want a gallery where you can show off your work, you have it, for the most part. If you want to be popufur, you have to create art that a lot of people like (or commission it). That's kind of how it works anywhere. There's a different group of people here to other places, but again, that's just how it goes - sites end up having specialities, just as artists do, and for much the same reasons.

Your art shows a marked improvement over time. But it's still not at the point where people are going to fall over you with general trade or commission requests. So you focus in a particular area, build up a speciality.  You don't have to do any particular style or theme of art to succeed here, but bear in mind that many artists on here are very good; the kind of good which comes with years of working either part-time or full-time at their craft over a period of many years. They get away with topics that aren't super-popular, because they're the first on the list for those who do want it.

The ultimate solution is to get real good - so good that your work demands attention - and I know that's much easier to say than to do. The way towards that is to focus on what you are passionate about, rather than the preferences of others, even if you ultimately do want to attract their interest. Otherwise, you just won't have the motivation to get there.

If you're looking to make a side-business out of this, you might still want to try to take the occasional trade, request or (hopefully) commission just to build up your skills in those areas, too. It's not just about anatomy and colour theory. But don't get downhearted if you're not all that successful in those areas for a while yet. Any skilled trade requires a long period of training and development, especially when there are 25,000 others doing a similar thing.

I'm mostly open for trades and stuff but its so hard to get people in when your not really into the latest trends but I do appreciate feed back now and then to know where I can improve. I'm not really in it for the money just want to be some what know for good art and being friendly but I don't see it happening any time soon but not much I can do

One other thing you can do is watch people just for their submissions. So if you're getting dramatic journals in your feed from specific people, drop by their user page and click the "watching" link, then untick journals.

Obviously doesn't apply to all drama, but it can help a lot.
