And that wasn't from the dam this time. This was almost all rain water, here and north of us. Voluntary evacuation issued the day before, never heard a word of it. Mandatory evacuation issued when the water was already too high to get out. I went to my mom's. Didn't want to be alone with all of this happening all over again. It was pretty scary but the water didn't get inside. A lot of people got it so much worse. The water released from the Neches River dams was much more than the floods either this year or last year in this area. I don't personally know anyone who was affected in those areas.
If we ever get that much rain again, is there anyone in the surrounding areas who could possibly come get me? I can leave my dog and my cat with mom.
Anyway once the water started going back down, the neighbors boated/kayaked over and we had a BBQ on the back porch/dock. I'm so glad I had my kratom. I would have lost my mind otherwise and probably got on everyone's nerves.
We're expecting the dam to release a little more water over the weekend, and ours may go up again, but without the rain, we shouldn't be affected too badly.
