but seriously, isn't this just how almost all the artist handle this? what happened today was stupid and wrong imo

I know, but now people KNOW what they pay for at least regarding me.

no need to answer... but paid commissions should hardly come with rules.
but i have noticed something you do sometimes do.
you outa not do a commission, until you are paid.

When you go grocery shopping, do you go pay at the register first then proceed to get the stuff you need? Same rules apply when I do business. I cant take money when I have nothing to give in return.

true in some ways I guess, but not in others.
I just would rather not see you do art for someone, who ends up skipping out on paying... <3
You are too good an artist to do that.

I like that ToS :) It's simple, direct, and retains every right for each party that they could want.

For myself, I think public domain/CC0 is the only sensible license for a commission I pay for. I've got a bunch of commissions by other people, all under different sets of agreements... and I'm so sick of it.

I'm not in the trade of managing IP for digital artworks I've paid for: I just want to post them wherever I want, print them, share them with people, and let those people do the same if they like it. I shouldn't have to also distribute the agreement with the work. I shouldn't be responsible for the acts that others perform on the art that I paid for. I shouldn't have to remember which pics I can do what to.

Copyright is simply evil. All it gives us is grief, drama, and four-letter initialisms like SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, MPAA, RIAA, DMCA...

The stories I have written and posted here, and under my RL name, the code that I have released, is all public domain. To me, that is the only morally acceptable choice.

There seems no moral argument for an artist to claim any measure of control over an artwork of me, and which I have paid for.
