What's my strength as a writer?

by
so I saw tredain on FA post this and I figure I'd steal it.

What do you all see as my strengths as a writer? What do you like about my stuff?

And don't worry about having to talk shop, if you just want to say "I like it because X" (or XXX as is sometimes the case with my work) that's okay too!

Just curious,

Please, forgive me for I am not always good with these things.

I like they way your thoughts flow. Often they flow very well and it helps to paint a very distinct picture.

You have written a number of pages / pieces that leave the reader hanging and wanting more. That can be both good and / or bad depending on how you feel about it.

While i do like the XXX stuff I also really loved some of the stories where it was never even approached. If memory serves Demons is an excellent example (or at least that which i have read here).

Now for a flip-side comment or two because, umm.... just because.

Sometimes I wish i saw a little more history or backstory with some of your characters. I do realize that in some cases that is not reasonable as that would almost be a novel on its own.

I personally would love to see you continue to evolve and add more to your repertoire. As long as you continue to expand your horizons I can easily see you move from being an excellent storyteller to a phenomenal one.

And for the love of (insert name of random ancient being here) keep writing! I religiously check for new submissions from you almost every day.

thank you for the comment.

out of curiosity, which characters would like to see more history/backstory on?

And what do you mean when you say you'd like to see me continue to evolve and add more to my repertoire?

And finally, I will keep writing :) I have about a year's worth of chapters to post and I write more of them every day.

Let us answer the easier question first. The repertoire question. For the most part i really only watch you here. Which means I only know what you have posted here. Most of your stories here on Inkbunny have sex as a relatively dominant theme. Now don't get me wrong I really enjoy it and they are well written, but then a story like demons comes along.  From there I see you branch out into a whole new area with all new themes. This got me really excited to see what else you could do. Keep expanding your horizons and never be afraid to try something new. That is more or less the essence of what i meant by repertoire / evolve. I hope that makes sense.

now for the  harder question. the one of characters and their history / back story. . . ok, long story short i can't remember the 4ish names that i wanted to say and when i look over the gallery it seems smaller than it should be. so once i can remember the names I'll either note you or post them here.

Actually i have one. Claws in the darkness. Although his history could almost be a book unto itself, not much of his history / backstory is revealed in what is posted here to indicate his drive and motivation for interacting with Derick the way he does. his interactions almost have a fatherly quality to them.

thanks again.

I've just looked through my gallery and you're right, it does seem smaller than it should be. I've been here for 7 years and I usually post once a week.so there should be at least twice what's there. Looking back through the gallery, and that's really odd, it seems that at first, I was posting quite irregularly. maybe once a month, if not even that.

Sorry, that's not quite relevant to the discussion. You're right that most of my stories here are sexual, but you don't have to be afraid, I don't limit myself to that. :) Part of the reason is that I write a lot more than I post. I write every day, but only post once a week. so I have to chose which story will be posted, and sexual stories get the most responses :) so I tend to post them first.

If you haven't read it, Jeremy is on here and as far as I can remember it doesn't contain explicit sex.

Everything of mine will be posted here, eventually, so You'll see that I have no fear of expanding my horizons. (Don't tell anyone, but I even have a heterosexual romance story in the works)

Claws in the Dark (The name got changed slightly by the time the novel was published) gets some of his motivation for the actions in book one revealed in book 2, and you are rather close to the mark :)

When you remember the other characters you have questions about, or if you have any kind of questions about my stories, don't hesitate to ask. I've started the TCN network as a way of answering reader questions. (okay, that isn't true. TCN sent me a notice to let me know that they were going to be doing to be sending reporters to the worlds I've been documenting. I've tried to send them 'cease and desists' letters, but earth bound lawyers seem to be reluctant to deal with inter-dimensional organization, so I there isn't much I can do to stop them)
