Picturse vs stories

by
I've been posting stories the past several years interspersed with the occasional picture.  View wise, they tend to do poorly.  Comment wise, they tend to do worse.  Fav wise they do... not great overall.

Posting pictures the past week or three has gotten the same amount of views in less time with more favs and slightly more comments overall.

Stats aren't a fun thing to look at or hear about but it does make me think "Is it worth writing and/or posting stories?"

Lack of response to writing is very demoralizing and/or de-motivating.  When stories do get a comment it is often one word or in the effect of "gimme more!" with no mention of the story itself or anything in it.

Been unmotivated the whole year so far. This journal is just me venting.  You may safely move on.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Also it takes two seconds to look at a picture, but it take much more time to read a story

So when a story gets posted most people say "ain't nobody got time for dat"

They work it, jerk it, finish, and move on without bothering to think any more about it.

I've been saying this for years.

You also, i mean come on. That lilo/jumba fic was just insanity, best l&s fic out there by a wide margin, i mean....you cannot capture that with a picture.

Edit: i meant you cannot capture that

I tried making comments into a sort of currency once.  40 good comments would equal one free rough sketch.  Only one person even bothered to do 10.  Out of the 40, only 20 would have had to have been to anything I made.

I prefer your stories by an insane margin, people want a quick fix and 2hat is basically a pump and dump and than never look at the picture again, so the stat is hollow and meaningless.

Meanwhile ive revisited "adventures in squirrel sitting" and your sam and max tentacle fic more times than i can count. Stories are so much more vivid and reusable. Becuase .y mind is better than anything anybody can draw.

Please DO NOT stop writing stories.

I'm glad you like them.  I do have a short unposted followup to adventures in squirrelsitting.  Maybe I'll post it eventually.  I did edit the original squirrelsitting story a while back. I  think i updated it but not 100% sure.  Sam and Max was a fun story.  I remember those two but there are a lot of stories I barely even remember.

As far as i can tell its the same fic, the original, i dont think its your updated one.

And as far as your followup, i well be excitedly anticapating whrn you do decide to upload it for sure.

Lastly, about the lack of comments....to be blunt and honest it boils down to me being older now with more priorites. Im hardly online as much as i was 5-10 years ago.

I just dont browse porn even remotely like i used to.

People are illiterates, if you can take a few minutes to look at a picture then you can take the same amount of time to read something.
But yeah stories do get far less viewership, I started off here with stories only and nothing came of it.

Reading does take a lot longer, yeah.

I've always admired you for posting stories. These take a long time to create, a long time to read... For people who have learnt to read. In our society where everything must go faster, stories are totally disadvantaged compared to pictures that are viewed imediatly, consumed immediatly... And forgotten as soon also, I'm afraid. But they also allow an immediate reaction, comment, fav...
I've seen the same thing happen in some of my hobbies, model kits and model railways. Most of the shops I knew 20 years ago disappeared, none new created to fit the hole. At a time you can have ready-to-run objects, what's worth taking time to build and paint carefully one item for hours??..............

Models do take a long time to work on too.  A ton of work and then you show people who just shrug.  They can buy similarly fully done models any time in an instant instead of putting in effort for them.

Very disappointing overall.  I have an unknown amount of stories I have never bothered to post.  May get around to it someday.  I got almost 0 response asking if anybody would be interested in buying a bulk collection of them, but that's not really surprising.  Other than commissioners who buy one customized, people don't want to pay for them.  I admit I probably wouldn't either, though I don't have much money to do so even if I wanted to.

You could try putting tags on your story icons.  Sometimes specific things will draw certain people in, where if they didn't see they tags they might not know what is inside.

I have done that once or twice.  It never improved any response or view rate, so I stopped bothering.  It's more work than its worth.

I love your stories but a large amount of the fandom don't read anything as if well written porn is some kind of chore to read. Just take a casual look at anyone's favorites, the average person on inkbunny has at most one or two stories in their favs.

Yeah. It just doesn't take as much time to enjoy picture.
I liked writing because I didn't have to worry about anyone reading it if they were browsing my files. But yeah, it gets less attention. Although you can explore ideas in writing more than with pictures.

Well I enjoy your hyper vulva stories but if they take too much time and effort to actually do while you get about the same faster with an image maybe go for the middle ground, an image with a short story in the description to tie it together?
