Vacation, and I'm a loser

Hey, folks.  Nothing too exciting this time, though I'll be away from Sunday July 30th until Friday August 4th (or maybe a bit later).

I know I'm famously reclusive and have done a really bad job keeping up with notes and stuff, and I'm really sorry about that.  I'm making one last effort to answer messages and finalize commission stuff before I go, but if you don't hear from me next week, it's because I likely won't have WiFi in a beach cabin in Maine.  8)

I just finished up a major woodworking project, and recently gave up on porting an old game to modern hardware (too much floating point weirdness going on), so I'll get back to art once I return from vacation.  After a bit of planning, I'm finally going to start working on that Waccoon puppet, too.  I want to try my hand at YouTube, just to see if it can work.

I really should plan on doing something more elaborate than just sketches.  I just noticed that I'm just shy of 100,000 views on FurAffinity, and have over 25K views here on InkBunny.  Granted, almost all of those views happened back when I was doing comics and within the last few years I've hardly gotten any attention.  But, still, I'm very grateful anyone even knows I exist, given that I hardly draw anything anymore and I barely even talk to people.  So, a very big THANK YOU to everyone who's watched and supported me over the years.  8)

Speaking of milestones, I weighed 202 pounds back in March, and I set a goal of hitting 160 by the end of summer.  I'm already at 158 and still losing, and feeling really good about that.  Sometimes it's great to be a loser!  Sooner or later, I'm gonna be so tired of losing!  I am!  I really am!  Sad.

Anyway, that's it for now.  See you all soon.

Why did you stop making comics?

Too much of a time sink.  I can't justify putting 6-8 hours of work into a comic every weekend.

Well, at least someone is going to be at the beach for my birthday!

But hey, your comics were always a fun read, and it's nice to see the sketches coming through, so why not stick around?

Enjoy the vacation!

Thanks.  Other than my road trip where I just passed through, it's been a good 10 years since I've been to the beach.  Most of the family in New England is going, and I hardly ever get together with the relatives, too.  I'm interested in seeing how much Saco, Maine has changed since the last time I've been up there.

Pictures of the woodwork!

It's not that impressive on the outside, but it's my first attempt at building my own computer equipment from scratch, and it took a while to get the plywood beveled and finished without visible seams.  Here's my new power control module with an integrated USB hub, and a bit of the internal wiring.  The notch on the side is so I can slide my keyboard around easily, since my new keyboard has a very stiff wire coming out the middle.

More pictures here: Power Box

Also, here's my work area.  I have no idea how anyone can work with tiny, messy desks covered in papers and pizza boxes.

It's a great practical solution and better than anything I have ever one with wood.

The computer on the right, is that a Chieftech case?

Haha... yeah, everyone recognizes that trusty old case (best case ever).  That's my XP system, hooked up through the KVM.  I still use it, because Windows7 (the black computer) is way too damn slow for some work.  I don't know why people love Win7 so much.  It's sooooooo sluggish.

I have a dark one that has contained my computer for like 20 years. The insides keep being cycled but the case is the same.

I have Windows 7 because is the best I got and I don't really do anything that requires lots of speed. I would still have XP but some programs started giving me the "you have to upgrade your OS" messages and crap.

Removable HD slot!  That picture reminds me of my Win98 legacy box which I use to play old games.

Ah, it's funny to remember when all this stuff was new and exciting, and now I'm the old fart reminiscing about better times.  Remember when systems didn't yell that software you bought yesterday needed to be updated, and upgrading actually improved things?
