This is the motto for any rock show, like the one i'm doing now.
Well its roller skating rink :P but its treated like a festival show because it goes on for a month.
I talked about corperate last time, so lets talk about the other side of the rodies coin shall we.
The way you build a festival show, is you take measures to make sure it can last the whole time safely. This means bags for the equipment, an ops tent, light covers, work lights and loooooots of gaff tape.
With a show like this you can cut corners, because you know where the audience is going to be. But that doesnt mean your ops center can be a pigstie. You have to work in this for up to a month!
It doesnt have to look prectical, just really really cool. And it almost HAS to be loud.
Make sure to have a basic list of daily task's. And if anything goes wrong one day, leave a note to remind yourself or another technician about it tomorrow.
And with outdoor festivals, stay hydrated. I dont just mean beer. Have some water between beers!
So to recap:
Remember the 6 p's, make it look cool, keep notes, and drink beer...and some water.
And friggin have fun. Dont forget you probably have to go back to a corperate gig after this :P
