Beware, lots of bitching and whining ahead.
Firstly, and this may be TMI for a lot of people--okay, everyone, but I don't care. I'm constantly painfully constipated and my doctor thinks it's due to an allergic reaction to wheat I've developed. Since Tuesday of last week, I've been told to lay off of bread and anything with wheat in it until I go and see him again this Thursday, and see if my bowel movements improve. So far it's hit and miss but I guess it takes time. If it does turn out to be wheat I can kiss a good chunk of my favorite foods like sandwiches, bagels and pizza goodbye, or at least only eat them from time to time. We'll see what's what on Thursday, provided I can lay off the wheat-based stuff for the rest of the week. Easier said than done, though. I never knew how much stuff had wheat in it!
Let's see, what else can I bitch about? Oh yeah, while eating a Milky Way candy bar (which probably has wheat in it but whatever) a couple of days ago, I accidentally took a massive bite out of the inside of my left cheek. It bled like crazy. Eventually it stopped. But it's all swollen and painful and makes eating difficult. I've been using Orajel, which helps, and on my mom's advice have swished with salt water. I guess this helps but it makes it bleed again for a bit. If it doesn't clear up by Thursday it's gonna be something I'll also my doctor to look at in addition to following up on my digestive problems.
Two people who have commissioned me haven't paid. I shall not identify them by name. One was supposed to have sent me the money through the mail weeks ago, but he sent it to the wrong person accidentally somehow and commissioned them instead. He was still interested in commissioning me, he said, and resent the money. This was a few weeks ago, back in late December. It hasn't shown up yet.
The amount of different things I've been counting on that for is rather staggering. Each time I need to get the money some other way (usually courtesy of someone else who actually frickin' has PayPal!) because the money keeps never coming in the mail. One of these was a Christmas present for my mother. Money never came, I had to resort to asking a friend to help me pay for her present. Then the not-yet-arrived-but-it-surely-must-be-coming money was gonna go towards a present for a friend. Never came. I had to take a commission to get the present. Then the still-not-here-but-should-be-soon money was gonna help pay for a present for a different friend and, well, you get the idea. This time I had to use my monthly allowance to get them the present. In January.
I've long since given up on the payment ever reaching me. He hasn't responded to any of the three PM's I've sent him regarding the whereabouts of the money. The second such PM issued an ultimatum: that if the money wasn't here by the end of that week then the commission was officially off and he was going down as "unpaid." He never responded. Nor did he respond to the third PM wherein I did exactly what I said I'd do: take him off my commission list and not draw his pictures.
What I'm gonna do with the money if and when it gets here I'm unsure. Most likely, I'll just send it back and not draw him anything because after all these shenanigans my desire to actually draw the guy's pictures has waned considerably. This is also the last time I accept money via the mail. If anyone wants to commission me in the future, please have PayPal.
The other case of someone commissioning me is another fellow who, at the beginning of last week, asked to commission me. I said sure. These things usually go two ways. Either the person can't pay me right away, and promises to do so later (usually coming through), or they can pay immediately and do so. This guy took a bizarre third option: by neither confirming nor denying whether he could pay me immediately, and, after discussing details of the commission with me, signed off. I caught him on a little later and explained I took payment up front and also that I needed the money before the end of that week. He seemed to agree to this, but I haven't seen him since. That was last week. He seemed like he grasped what "need it by the end of the week" means, but there was nothing in my PayPal come Saturday (or Sunday), and he hasn't responded to a PM I sent.
I sense a pattern.
Oh well. Most of this is just petty bitching, but all these things add up to make me kind of really miserable right now, and not at all in an artistic mood, which sucks because I have one picture left to draw for a guy who did already pay me (he's on SoFurry), but I can't seem to bring myself to work up the enthusiasm to start working on it, due to Buffy dying, my bowel problems, my painfully aching cheek and worrying over whether or not these two guys who supposedly hired me to draw something for them have yet to actually get any payment to me.
