Quite precise. In originality, The process of copulation was a base need, genetically programmed to ensure progeny, and reduce chances of extinction via natural happenstance. However, over the course of years, the act has gone from base need and transformed into base desire, which is no longer necessary to ensure the future of the specie. The act of copulation used to be something reserved for the male sex, which took time to perform the act for pleasure whenever they desired, without care for the female sex's desires or outlook on the act. Afterward, it became known that females took pleasure in this act as well, and changes followed for how to go about courting a particular partner of interest without invoking the wrath of an offended party. Nowadays, the whole process of copulation is complicated by a certain courting ritual, wherein both parties must show interest, and may also be required to show possessive emotions toward the partner in question, be they male or female. Sadly, though, many see this act as something that must be hidden from eyes, and fail to see the natural beauty which is apparent in the act, especially when performed with a partner who is essentially a lock to their key. This, in turn, leads to another beautiful act, wherein the resulting progeny is given life and brought into the world, thus expanding the family unit from which it all began. Truthfully, if beauty such as this were to be more present in today's society, the overall ugliness of life and, in general, the human race may then become something worth viewing as a whole, rather than as specific groups in which this beauty is concentrated. Would you not agree?

I agree with much that you've said, however I must note that there are many cultures where the act of copulation is not considered ugly or obscene but simply another part of life and the act often takes place in open areas or is at least openly discussed and taught. On that same note, it simply astounds me how Western and European culture has evolved in such a manner that sex is both vilified and glorified at the same time. In fact, during the Victorian Era (contrary to common belief and lore), the people were very sexually active and open about their sexual activity, as long as the parties involved were committing the act while locked in holy matrimony. Granted, one did not actively pursue sex before marriage at those times, but once married people were known to have sex in the air in parks, in front of churches, by schools, and anywhere else they saw fit. As long as they were married. Nowadays, it is no longer taboo (to an extent) to hook up with a person at a party, enjoy a frisky, passionate evening together, and go separate ways the next day, but it can no longer be done in front of prying eyes because as soon as a third party views the occasion it becomes 'scandalous'.

Humanity is a strange lot...

I have to admit, my statement was based mostly on american culture. However, I do agree with you on the rest. Also, It is, indeed, astounding how sex is a fully accepted thing, but becomes horrifcally scandalous if viewed by another party, of if those perfoming the act are privy to viewing it done by others. It's marvelous. Hell, it used to be common for people to have more than one person involved, even at the same time! Now, however, if a person has more than one partner, or has more than one at the same time, it is lewd and vulgar, and is spoken of in the same tone reserved for massacres. Personally, I dont have any feelings one way or the other. Have as many partners as you desire. Have as few. Have the same sex, or a different sex. Makes no difference to me. Married or not, single or not, it's the same to me. Maybe I'm the wierd one, though. Regardless, it is still astonishing how hypocratic we can be....

I agree with the being weird comment, I've been called that many a time. My stance on marriage has always been "what, you need some God or the state to say that you are in love? Nonsense!". Luckily, I live in Colorado, a common-law state, so if I say I'm married for long enough, I'm counted as married. But to be honest, I'm fiercely loyal to my girl, but I don't believe that everyone should pander to my thoughts; as you said, if you want as many or as few partners as you please, it's no nevermind to me.

Anyway, I commend you on having a woman to love. Cherish her beyond measure, man. You are luckier than you know. ^_^

Also, I live in Oregon. Sadly, this is not a common-law state. It sucks, but what can ya do?
