Alrighty, I managed to get to used gifted comp running again. Seems there was a huge problem with conflicting drivers, specifically the video drivers. Removed the old ones, installed new ones, system seems to be working again. Installed and ran C Cleaner, and was able to remove nearly twnety *gigabytes* of crap and conflicting garbage. Got Norton running, and killed off several bots and older viruses too.
Now, the last problem is that I still have no means of running my old scanner or tablet on this newer machine. The tablet I can wait, maybe I'll get one for my birthday in a couple months, but a scanner is still an issue. I *might* still have a USB to Paralell cable adapter, so if I can find it, I'll give it a try. Till then, I'll have to just take pics with my digital camera from a tripod.
