Headset

Can anyone recommend a good headset with a microphone?

I'm looking for something under $30, that's easy to set up, durable, comfortable, and lightweight.  Something that would be easy to use while streaming or gaming, and could be worn for hours without causing blisters or neck strain.

Under 30, I'm not sure. But I've used my Logitech G35 for two years now and I <3 them. Then only problem is the fake leather on the ear cups tends to flake after a while. There's a way around it though (flip the ear muffs inside out)

I honestly recommend the investment, though.

Look at a company called "Turtle Beach"... They've been in the business since it began, and is the leading producer of quality products... Go to their site, and you might find a model under $30 (though I don't know if you'll be able to buy it through the site)

you said UNDER 30, but here's something EXACTLY 30.. >.> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16... bought this twice it's so damn good. I also used to use headsets from turtlebeach, and they were suggested above. those were also very good, but the ones i got were 50 at the time. good luck!

This looks promising.  But I'm still deliberating whether it would be a worthwhile investment.  I don't think I would use it that often.  Thank you for the suggestion.

"Good" for less than $30 is going to be difficult. I've had several in that price range, and even ones up to $60 be total junk. The one I use now is wireless and cost $160, but it works absolutely perfectly, and I get up to 10 hours of use out of a full charge.

Good luck finding a decent one, though. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

I'm not looking for something with studio quality sound.  My sound system is pretty basic. I mainly want something where the microphone would transmit comprehensible speech, that's easy to wear, and doesn't break easily.  $160 is pretty much right out of my price range.  Besides, I don't suspect I would be using it very often, because I draw a lot at night, and don't want to disturb people's sleep.  Thin walls and all that.

Does it work well?  What kind of connectors does it use?  I've never set up a microphone for a computer before.

It works pretty good, the standard cord which is built in has a single pin for use with say an Ipod/mp3 player but it comes with an extension cord that has both a sound and mic pin for use with a PC. Sound quality is pretty good but if you have to turn it up all the way to hear whatever your listening to there is a little static. Mic is pretty good, the bendable arm it's on tends to hold it right next to your mouth but it doesn't break up even if you yell into it.

This was my favorite headset till I ran over the cord a few too many times, even then I only upgraded to a wireless version but it's a lot more expensive than the wired.
