Classic Mom-edy

With all the non-stop art I've been doing lately, my back has shown its displeasure.  I literally stayed up for an entire day to make sure the art for the third chapter of the Weylen stories was done.  My back was so terribly sore.  A few days back my mom had called to ask me if I wanted something for Christmas.  A product invented by my grandmother called HotSox.  They're made from very soft cloth, and you can microwave them.  I shit you not.  You take these little booties and throw them in the microwave for about 60 seconds and they stay really warm for a really long time.  My 70 year old grandmother made this shit.

So we got a knock at the door while I was sleeping, MadDog got the package, and I opened it half-awake.  Even laying in my bed my back was bitching at me.  I had a look at them, then asked him to microwave them for me.  They were so warm, instead of putting them on my feet, I decided to put them under my back while I was laying there.

I fell asleep on them.

My back feels awesome.

X3 Sore, stiff muscles usually appreciate a good hot patch treatment. If'n I lived anywhere nearby, I'd be happy to practice my massage techniques on you. But as that's not the case, I recommend more heat and to stretch your back and legs periodically. Particularly when you're arting it up :P

nice xD, glad to hear your back feels better though and sad that it's taking such a toll on you D:
I had a similar problem when I started drawing again cause I kept hunching over my drawing area.

I've heard that inactivity can actually increase the time it takes for a strained back to recover, due to lowered blood circulation.  The heat from the sox probably improved the blood flow, helping your back recover.   I wouldn't recommend doing any strenuous activity, but just laying around all day can make it take longer to heal.  But I'm not a doctor, so take that for what it is.

And no, I'm not calling you lazy. lol

Maybe in the future you could set some type of alarm to go off while you're working, so you can stand up and stretch about every 45 minutes or so, and maybe take a brief walk around your home.  If you're like me, you probably get ultra focused on working, and neglect eating, or even using the bathroom for hours.  My bladder will be practically screaming at me for the later half of a drawing session, sometimes.

When I'm awake and well-rested I usually get up frequently and pace around.  It helps me think about things to draw.  The thing that makes my back sore is that I forget to sit back so I'm hunched forward for an hour or three.

I do the same thing, lol

Pacing also helps me get into a more rested state of mind if I'm anxious, so if I can't sleep I walk around a lot.

thats an awesome invention your grandmother has.

but it still pays to take a break and walk around for awhile.

my legs get numb if i sit too long.

Your mom does have an incredible sense of timing. ... But I still told you to use the heating pad long before they arrived. =P Dammit, Holmes should listen to Watson more.
