crappy 2017 predictions

- Public elementary schools start using video games like minecraft for education. But the instructors aren’t properly trained how to use these new tools, so it doesn’t end up helping anyone. Rather than blaming lack of forethought and bad management, politicians use this as a new talking point to further cut education budgets.

- Former president Barack Obama starts his own lets play channel on youtube.

- The Internet of Things becomes the most popular electronic gimmick. Half of your electronic devices including your toaster, washing machine, and hair dryer will be able to display your twitter feed.

- A television network tries to capitalize on internet jokes and makes a show exclusively about them called “Meme Team”.

- Cable news shows start talking about “cultural warfare” constantly whenever mentioning social media.

- A bunch of practical software is made for universal device management. Now you can use your smartphone to oversee the security of your vehicle, test/silence your smoke alarm, get alerts about your laundry being finished, and get reminded when food in your fridge gets expired. But you can only do half of these things on an iphone, and half of them on an android phone.

Server hosts have been pushing IoT projects hard. Of course, they all need infrastructure… question is, can you actually analyse all that data smartly? Especially now that there are all those data-sharing controls?

Another prediction.
Some data storage companies will start going under, so they'll sell their data to other companies. Things will get scattered and confusing. New tech companies will emerge that specialize in keeping track of where data is currently kept to keep track of all of this.

I pulled that out of my ass, so now I can just wait and see if something like that happens (or is already happening).
