"When the activists of Moscow Pride and GayRussia went to Ryazan to help educate minors that homosexuality is normal, they were arrested, detained, fined and challenged in the courts."
"...not only in Russia but also in other European countries where similar bills are being discussed, such as Lithuania and Ukraine. Because this issue is not only Russian: it is an eastern European one."
"Gay people are being used as scapegoats in Russian politics, where society is still largely homophobic."

And this is almost laughable in that 'he has got to be a troll because there's no way that some can be so stupid' sense:
"This atmosphere is made clear when the governor of Tambov called for gays to be torn into pieces and thrown in the wind, or when former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov called us alternatively "satanic", "faggots", "western weapons of mass destruction" and made us responsible for the spread of HIV"."

Russia's and the rest of Eastern Europe's governments should really, REALLY think about what the hell they'e doing. Not only is this complete and utter bull, but it makes a mockery of people who have done nothing wrong but are suffering because some people are too idiotic and lacking of any common sense to realise that:

1. Homosexuality is natural, homophobia is not - Way over 200 species of animal does dwell in homosexual activities while only 1 species of animal, humans, dwells in homophobia.

2. Homosexuality is not a trend - The world's population is increasing at an alarming rate due to people in the world who have half a dozen to a dozen babies. Homosexuality has never and will never be anything that will occur to so many people that the population will decrease until it even gets close to diminishing.

3. General sexuality - What's the difference between heterosexual and homosexual relationships. One of them can't naturally produce offspring. I put 'naturally' in italic due to the fact that there are procedures where babies can be created outside o the womb, not that I'll go into them as they are off-topic. But even if the whole world were homosexual, although that will never happen as, I repeat, it is not a trend, there are still these procedures that can create babies.

4. Medieval times - In medieval times, homosexuality was unheard of and when it occured for the first time, it was turned into such taboo because it was unheard of due to it never happened and people were frightened about it because it was so. People nowadays have turned that hatred into mindless trolling/hating due to the fact that they believe that this taboo had been created because it was unheard of due to some reason that they couldn't figure out so these trolls/haters have come up with any mindless excuse, even getting religion involved(!), to battle against the so-called taboo, when in fact, the taboo wasn't originally created because of any reason directly against homosexuality itself because no-one knew anything about it.

5. The corrupt society - These leaders who're in charge of governments/groups have a heavy influence on some of their followers including leaders like the Pope, who stated that homosexuality's a worse problem that needs more attention to get rid of than deforestation. Now, considering that the Pope used to be a Nazi and sticks to 'traditions', I think that it's safe to say that his views are nothing that we should take notice of, yet people actually buy his reasonless and idiotic homophobic beliefs because he's a man of power and a man of 'God'. They feel that they need to believe his word so they can go to 'heaven' but it's pathetic because his beliefs are unjustified and full of excuses.

Finally, I have to say that this is what is so great about the furry fandom/community - we all, or at least mostly, accept others for who they are and respect other peoples' beliefs. I am proud to be a part of it and only wish that the rest of the world could be more like it.

Thanks for sharing this, Andy.
