Friends, readers, and people who have requested stories:
National Novel Writing Month was a great personal success to me for two substantial reasons. The first is that I actually finished for the first time in three tries (though the first one hardly counts, as it was almost a decade ago, during high school.) The second is that having actually successfully written a novel (though one in need of serious editing), I have come to a life-altering realization: I can do this. I can write stories worthy of publication. I can realize my dreams.
The problem, of course, is this: I work retail, which means I work a lot of hours for very little pay, and all of that hard work just barely gets me by. My free time is extremely limited.
I agonized over this decision, I really did. But the fact is, if I'm going to be able to write stories I intend to get published, I really just don't have time for any other writing :(. So requests are on indefinite hold.
I don't want to disrespect anyone by being defensive, but I was putting a lot of hard work into these requests (weeks, usually), and that I was doing them for free... I genuinely appreciate everyone's interest in my writing, and I do feel really bad about not completing these requests, but this is what I have to do to chase my dreams. If anyone is angry, I understand. But this is what I have to do.
If/when I have a lull and feel able to start working on requests again, I'll send private messages to whomever's request is next and make sure they're still interested. If anyone wants to withdraw their request(s), I understand.
It really has been a pleasure writing for you guys, and I really hope you continue reading.
