After finishing The Young Crazed Monkeys, I thought about how I enjoyed writing it. In all honesty it was heavily delayed because I didn't like the characters or themes at all. And it made me wonder if the reason behind my writer's block is because i'm just had enough with writing about the same things over and over.
The main issue is that i've been writing in what I tend to think as an "Otaku" manner - meet and fuck fanfics. I have been experimenting with adding more backstory - Lust Sin Ep3 will be a major experiment in this. Additionally i've been finding sex scenes hard to write as well - in actual fact I plan to make a Safe-for-work edition of an upcoming piece just because its easier and more fun to write. Additionally in the last 18 months i've felt a "wordcount mentality" where anything below 5000 words is sub-standard.
I've considered my options and decided to make a major shift in my writing themes and technique. The new manner i'll be writing in will be a "Gothic" one. Which means more romance, more freakiness, and more details on the characters' feelings. All things I like writing about.
Because of this, i've decided to set myself a challenge over 2012. Nine new, not before used, characters. At least one story each. The project is called "So Fucking Goth", as all the characters are really cute Goth girls. The first will be Ruby Gloom with the story Meaning of Happiness.
However this also means some characters will be ditched. The following are going to be put on hold.
* Old-style Rebecca Graves - she will be getting a reboot as Goth Girl #9. * Leo and Aeris - poor reaction to 7FX and pretty much out of ideas. * Sonic the Hedgehog - recent attempts to write about him and friends have been unsuccessful. * Pokemon - I seriously didn't like writing any of my latest Pokemon pieces. * My Little Brony - I hate ponies. Go figure.
So yes, thats how I feel right now and what I plan to do.
