Ohhhh :D

I was thinking most people only drew four toes on furry feet to be simple and cuter, so I was mostly going for five. But then I did some research. So apparently most animals have five toes on their front paws and four toes on their back paws (bunnies and foxes at least). Interesting! ^^

No wonder Opal looked good with four toesies on each foot.

**EDIT : checked my kitties, same thing :D how cute is that!

paws always look like socked feet to me so unless you fiddle with them you wont really notice the toe count xD

interestingly enough, dogs have 4 actual toes on all paws. However, some people consider the dew (do?) claw to be another digit, despite how high up it is on the foreleg. because of this unique feature, I may actually decide to keep my most recent art as it is, with Chi having only 4 fingers....
Cant be any worse than a 3-fingered Gardevoir.... Though I honestly find her more attractive with 5. Isnt that wierd?

This goes for bunnies too, actually. The dewclaw is considered a 'finger' in the articles i read on the subject, but yeah, it is kind of off on its own and isnt part of what is actually used when walking

Yes but it is constructed exactly like a normal paw finger, it's high up like the Human thumb, except relatively higher because for one instance, a rabbit's or a cat's "wrist" the first bend up from the leg. So like msot people call those "elbows".

The thing that seems to be the "wrist" is where the fingers start xD
I'm also using Ape terminology since I'm no vet and don't actually know what a cat's or rabbit's or dog's "wrist" or "elbow" is.

One of the nice things about writing stories is that the readers will fill in the details for themselves. So if they want to picture my characters with three fingered cartoon hands that's totally okay. I also don't give real specific details on the character's fun bits, either, for the same reason, like I don't say how many inches long a boy is or what cup size a lady wears.

I've experimented with not even giving species. Seemed to work :)
