am I being petty?

I was over on a different art site which will remain nameless *chuckles* when I spotted an artist offering two person commissions at a discount.  I figured sure sounds good so I signed up a little back and forth over the messages and I shot him my refs and the picture Idea.  it wasnt to weird or nothing... any way that was yesterday.  So I check out his journal today and he's got a running tally of his commissions and Im not on it,  hes got tons of folks who came in after me listed, but it went right over me.

now I'm rather annoyed so I sent a pm just asking if he'd gotten my pm

no response and I know hes read it since the system lets you know when pms arn't read.

Its frustrating I haven't paid yet, but he hadn't given me a paypal addy either but it doesn't feel like that.  If he was waiting for payment he would have replied to my message atleast.  If he didn't want to do the pic he should just say so.  I've been turned down before I can take it

I don't want to mention names or anything cause I don't want to actualy cause trouble but I do want to know what you folks think should do something, forget it,  I don't know why but this is really bothering me today

If he can't be bothered to reply to all people interested in becoming a client, he's obviously unfit to be taking on commission work

agreed and even if as it turns out he just didn't wanna do it he has to at least tell the customer instead of leaving them hanging

I don't think so the least he could have done was reply w/ an "I'm sorry message."

I finally got a reply after sending another message

he decided he didn't want to do it cause my commission involved tentacles,  they weren't even naughty tentacles,  they we giving suction cup hickies

bleh sorry

I ran into an situation sorta like that once, I had commissioned someone to do 4 or 5 of my characters in one shot. Took me an bit to get the info together and when I sent it out, I got nothing back for an while, eventually they made an post saying the were cancelling all commissions.

I didn't think much about it,  till an few days later when they made an new post saying they were taking emergency comissions to cover those that paid them, but they didn't contact me back to ask if I wanted my previous commission or shrink it down to something more manageable, or even ask previous commissioners to contact them in case they forgot about them.

I was angry at first, but then I figured if they didn't want my money, then they wouldn't get it, and made an mental note to never try to commission them again.

I've had that situation happen more then once.   hell last time I commissioned an artist,  a week later there gallery was wiped and they dropped from the fandom.

I find about 25% of artists are deadbeats. Doesn't stop me commissioning, I just consider it a "deadbeat tax". Some artists just can't get motivated by the stuff I ask them to draw, and I can't fault them for that.

that's stupid. I would give you a discount and do your pics cheap cause you're just awesome. that artist doesn't know what they're missing. =/
