Writing Challenge #16: Something to be thankful for?

by
It's Thanksgiving, you and your family are done mutilating the bird (with belches and drowsiness as proof!), you put the kids in front of the plasma screen, pop in the Blu-Ray of The Wizard of Oz (old Turkey Day tradition), although someone in the room is grumbling about missing the San Francisco-Baltimore ball game (hey, the coaches of both teams are brothers!), but what the hell-- Satisfy them with a classic, let the turkey's magic set in, and once passed out, switch to the ball game... Heh, heh... ;)

It's also time for yet another Writing Challenge!

Well, I couldn't settle on three keywords this time, so you get four to fiddle with, in keeping with this Challenge's Thanksgiving theme, so here they are:

TURKEY is our species this time...
PILGRIM - We're all traveling, making pilgrimages to our families for the extended holiday weekend...
STUFFING - Take your pick. >;)
and...
THANKSGIVING - Not necessarily the day, but the act of giving thanks. :)

Unlike other writing prompts, I use keywords instead of phrases. The whole point being to do something primarily for Inkbunny and its nascent writing community to participate in.

As per usual, submissions are not tied to the calendar events or themes I use to set these Challenges around (except certain events specifically mentioned in that Challenge, like my birthday, or Japan), and as such, these Challenges have no expiry date. They may be any length (I don't care how short or long), any genre, any rating, including any "controversial" subject matter...or not. It's up to you. :) All I ask is that you have fun writing your submission. The only caveat is that I'm not expecting the obvious, so be creative! :) These are YOUR stories, and you may post them as you please (within any site's restrictions, of course), but I do ask that I be informed about it, ideally here on Inkbunny (this is my primary site, though I'm on FA and SoFurry as well). There are no prizes, except the feeling of having accomplished something, gotten it reviewed & +faved, and listed with this and past Challenges (see below). That said, if you feel you have a better story idea fitting any of my previous Challenges (and there're no rules that says you're limited to using only one Challenge per story!), be my guest-- I'd love to read whatever you submit to ANY of my Challenges! :) (16 so far- Collect them all!)

Below is a list of past and current Challenges, with links to all submissions for each.

Fortunately, birds are safe from me considering I'm vegetarian.   I don't like sports, so no worries about a couple teams of helmeted mooks grabbing their crotches and swearing at flying baseballs.  Heck, I don't even have a couch, and the TV only works with the outdoor cameras.  Can I be a loveable curmudgeon now? :p No?  How about just a curmudgeon?  Still no? :o Well, dang. ;p

On another note, I just banged this up on a whim.  Will it work?  -->

You villain.  I should have been sleeping when the muse shanghaied me. ;p
