Has it really been a year, already?!?

by
I came to Inkbunny on the third wave-- The first were the initial group that got Inkbunny off the ground. The second were the ones who came in when the site was in open beta (almost came in at that time, but...). The third was when FA started its initial wave of bans.

Yes, the [i[initial[/i] wave. I didn't like the way FA was going, after having been there for 3.5 years, and I knew it would get worse-- Which it has. After this latest fiasco (this time, with PayPal- The initial bans were in response to AlertPay dumping on them), I'm not looking forward to the carnage to come, and the next exodus from there to sites like Inkbunny and SoFurry. I've likened what's going on at FA to the sinking of the Titanic, and I'm not surprised by what's going on. :P

Nevermind that furaffinity.net != furaffinity.com....but PayPal could care less the distinction... :P

But this marks a year on Inkbunny.

A YEAR!!

Since coming here, I've been my most prolific as a writer (I'm still behind in my year's goal of 13 stories in 12 months- not a typo- from last January-- I'm at 8. :P ), and I have a semi-successful Writing Challenge that I wish had some (at least semi-) official recognition-- Oh, well... Dunno how long that project will survive, as I'd love to continue the Writing Challenges....

(I'll post my Thanksgiving [US] edition of the Challenge later today or tomorrow. :P )

But a year, and 63 +watchers-- Not bad....

63 certainly isn't bad considering that writing gets mostly ignored. =/ I got here just at tad earlier, this place really has really changed (for the better) since the closed beta release. =3 I hope this place is here to stay, grow and become the place for furs to find their art. =3

Of the three main furry sites, IB has the least writing activity per userbase, as well as overall, which is quite sad-- It is also why I started my Writing Challenges in the first place, to give writing a kickstart on IB.

Actually, I think only a small number of my +watchers are here for the stories: Some are friends, old and new; some are writers; and some are only after whatever new pics I post (although I can't afford commissioning, due to disability, except on rare occasions, and giftart is pretty scarce these days). Even submissions to my Writing Challenges have been dropping off, making me wonder if I should end that project. :( I don't want to, though. :(

I really do need to get back to writing- The last 3 months have been non-stop interruptions and distractions, and an iPod is no tool for a writer who likes using text styles. :P

Well no need to end your writing challenges. It's certainly not going to get any submissions if it's not at least available. ^_^; Hopefully we'll see more people who are interested in writing/reading a bit more than the current community is. Hope you have less interruptions soon. x_x;

Well, it'll at least go through January, perhaps longer... And yes, response has been a bit tepid of late, not nearly as many submissions as there were for the earlier Challenges.... (You can see a list of submissions with all past Challenges on the most recent one, to see what I mean. :P )

In a nutshell, this is probably why your regulars aren't writing as much as they could.  For me, there's the distraction of getting into paper modeling, my present project being a 4-foot poseable model of Optimus Prime from the live action movies (not my design; he's available in several sections from http://paper-replika.com).  Of course, writing and paper modeling aren't mutually exclusive activities and can be done (more or less) at the same time a lot better than other creative activities.

In any case, one goal of mine has been to provide at least one story for each of your Challenges, a goal at which I hope to fail at for some time, not because I forget, lose interest, or whatever, but because, no matter how well I manage to catch up, you're still one-upping me by posting another Challenge. :p

I wish it were just hobbies distracting me... (Although I have been burning alot of DVDs with found science fiction movies and space-exploration documentaries, and getting to know my new camera......) Instead, between August-November, there have been 3.5 trips that have been taking my time, all but one having to do with my mother's activity in the California State Retirees... (The one being my birthday trip to the Sundial Bridge, and the "half" trip was a Labor Day retirees picnic.) The stress from preparing (and recovering) from the trips merely adds to it. :P

Actually, I'm way behind on the Challenges-- They were supposed to be twice a month! :P

I know what you mean.  The fortnight and a week-long inability to connect to the internet followed by getting a (relatively) new computer up to par haven't helped me either. :|

In any case, 63 Watchers is doing well.  I've only got – what? – four, two of whom Watched me apparently because of my two adult pictures? :p Oh, well.  Such is what I get for not advertising my stuff enough. :p
