READ THIS: Paying with Paypal

by
Reposting this because this needs to be spread around.

SO, apparently Furaffinity has garnered attention from paypal in the worst way. Transactions with information in the Subject or Description that pertains to Furaffinity will result in the user being blocked from paypal!

This, as only I've heard and I've not yet seen it happen, is due to the fact FurAffinity has been flagged by paypal as a pornography website, which is against Paypal's main Terms of Service.

This most definately affects almost EVERY commissioner, so please when sending transactions Do not mention your FA username, the words FA or FurAffinity, or likely derivatives on paypal.

Please repost this.

Update!

Paypal rapes you on fees to begin with, I've been trying to spread the word a bit about https://www.dwolla.com/  It's I think a flat .15 per transaction.  Or use http://squareup.com/ which is a credit card processing service, with no monthly fees, just a transaction fee.  The positive on that is you can take international credit cards.  Either way I think they less people use paypal, the better.  But, anyway both of these services don't care what the transaction is for.

i have to agree here. see  if everyone used a different pay sight it would be much better. paypall rips u off more than you realize it.
and though i have used them a few times. i will say this. i wont  be using them ever again. i prefer a different way of payment. suggested by (ottah) because they are a little cheaper on the pocket and much better when dealing with customers.
and as for the fact u get flagged yea they would do that though its service. they should not have any business to complain. sigh. if they make money off it why should they care. obviously i think everyone needs to change over from them they wine and complain to much.
its all i gots to say ^^

Apparently this was a hoax, some journals have the correct information.
It was not furaffinity.net as a site itself, but just the standard "don't specify the payment is for adult purposes" really

So yeah, FA payments is fine, as long as people don't write too much info in the messages like "for the blowjob incest artwork" or similar

No no no, it was because the guy mentioned what was being commissioned.  Terms associated with underage, rape, bestiality were present in the message sent with payment.

Nothing to say, only inform to your commissioner your paypal email, and thats all. (like "hey i sent the payment with the email bla#gmail.com" and done)

I keep hearing this is fake or that this is the absolute truth blah blah.  My opinion is I have been majorly screwed by paypal many times over even to the point of having 1000 USD confiscated and not one reason why I cannot have my own money.  I refuse to keep money on paypal anymore and when I do transactions I leave only statement on private notes of what email and name the paypal payment would be under.  So true or not I dont care cause I hope the uprawr that is comming from this would cause furs to quit using paypal and give a dent in its profits.  I know I do not accept payments via paypal.  I only use square though unfortunetly its a smart device only app (iphone, android)

Erm, it's about one artist who got screwerd by PayPal, they aren't banning FA based transactions, I mean how would they even know to begin with? They aren't that good.

It doesnt make any sense that paypal wants to ban porn, the internet IS porn, why would any company want to effectively ban most of their potential customer base?

It's about company image. The people who invest in stocks and such, always politics. I'm sure they have other reasons they can come up with as well, but that's usually what it boils down to.

Because there is a strong vocal minority of people who think that porn is corrupting society, and in the middle there are people who will pretend to share that view rather than lose their support.   Paypal probably knows that people use it to pay for porn, but they just don't want to give the appearance that they condone it.  I'm reasonably sure most of them wouldn't give a damn, as long as it can't be traced them.   Then again, it does provide them with an opportunity to seize assets when this rule is violated.  So my advice is to never keep too much money in your account at any one time.  Put a limit on it based off how much you feel is acceptable to lose, even if you don't use it to pay for porn.  They have seized accounts for other reasons too, or no reasons at all.

If you have less than $100 in your account at any point and time, they probably won't risk a lawsuit to get it.   And if they do, then you can just blacklist them an move on, or join a class action, whichever you feel more inclined to.

The understanding is, porn is good for their business, as long as it's connection to them is invisible.   If you're too obvious, or too tempting a target, they will take your money, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

it is still a little odd though, that a ocmpany like paypal would care about the vocal minority, I would think it would make more sense to ignore the nuts in favour of tapping a massive market. But your explanation does make sense, its a way for them to get the best of both worlds on a way.

It's essentially a way of covering their asses.  Companies don't like taking responsibility for controversial practices, but love benefiting from them.

I'll admit there's also a possibility that someone of authority within the company might be genuinely against pornography, and any policies would have to take them into account.
