That's a stupid bill, we as americans deserve to have freedom of what we watch or look at,  what they'll take away Skype, google+ facebook and about every site to keep things censored.  Let us watch what we want

Yeah, Google+ won't be touched and Skype won't be touched... Google as a search engine will be challenged ceaselessly, however. Facebook will be threatened for "hosting links to" sites where IP rights are broken, as will most other underground-but-still-findable forums and hosts of targetted content. Megaupload will be blocked, and many other filesharing sites will also be challenged or blocked.

The informational site itself pointed out some of the general-consumer stuff that just get used a ton. It is the best strategy for getting as much support from others in the general public as possible. The truly concerned person will use the links also presented to research and find out more information about this bill and why it should be stopped. I'm not going to say "pirates deserve to screw over the producers" as I've seen the report regarding the entertainment industry losing over 50% of its profit between 1999 and 2009, but altogether, it is walking over the first amendment rights of citizens.

Our constitution declares what the government can not do. However, when laws are passed where private businesses can take these actions, it's no longer in the responsibility of the government and is beyond the protection of the constitution. This is why, when you're on private property that is owned by businesses, you cannot legally declare your constitutional rights are being infringed. They have the right to ask you to leave, stop, or hold you. Where the police cannot silence you, security for some business can so long as you are on their property and thus in their private legal reach.

This should NOT pass period as it would allow businesses to do things that most would be completely blindsided by.

Private property doesn't mean you can hold a person against their will.
In most cases, such as malls and such, a permit for temporary hold until authorities arrive is needed.
If you do not have a license to, holding someone against their will is a crime itself and, you can
actually be charged for it. However, protecting your property is a different story. You have the right to
either deter or defend against such action. The only legal way of holding someone against their will, is
by a citizen's arrest, in which case there are strict regulations under which it can be done.
Also, the constitution overrides all laws, state and local, and as such you can declare them infringed
even on private property unless you are committing a legal crime such as trespassing, in which case, you
are in violation of the constitution yourself.
So, security can ask you to leave, if you refuse, then they have the right to detain you until authorities pick you up.

"Tresspassing" is defined by the land owner and can include simply walking onto the property without consent. When someone is detained for this matter, or for most matters, i'm pretty sure they're not willing to be detained. As such, It's against their will, but not illegal. But that's all semantics because you've at least been requested to leave beforehand, i know.

IP Rights are directly dealing with products as property. As such, laws like this seek to give businesses further control of their property and the exclusive rights to copy it by all senses of the word 'copy'. As always. What this movement is attempting to do is prevent them, the private companies, from gaining exaggerated control and censoring the internet for the nation, which is entirely doable (Ask Australia). Supporters seem to simply not be in favor of that level of control.

While I do not morally support pirating, I have no problem supporting the freedom to store and share files.

(Also, as an aside, they make mention in the video "This will only block names and will not block IP addresses." but erm... they're smarter than that. Finding the IP address of a domain isn't difficult and would be the first step, rather than banning a domain name. Seems the video makers don't think privateers are competent enough to understand the internet.)

Yea, I forgot to add that a sign placed within reasonable viewing parameters is considered a warning, and is good enough to serve as the "get off my property" statement. In which case, any person wandering in can be detained or met with aggression.

I don't support pirate activity either.

But this kind of law would be a gateway law... yes, i'm using a drug reference... allowing for stricter rules and eventually unconstitutional censorship. Its one of those "its not worth the loss in freedom for the gained security" situations.

Also, yes, while sadly... many people are semi ignorant of how to fully use the interbuns, myself included, there is always those who are not.

They're trying to stop piracy. IF it passed, which it won't, America would be unable to view any website. Even some government websites probably.
