I don't understand people that will donate to an artist who begs for money all the time, gives nothing back in return, and spends the money on either art from other people, having fun a at con, or just blows it on "stuff", but when an artist who honestly needs the help, rarely asks for it and even offers up something in return, they get little to nothing other than maybe a "sorry to hear that". (None of this is directed at my friends since all of them are pretty much in the same state I am)
I also don't understand this growing trend of people letting their pets get sick/injured in ways that are totally preventable and then begging for money to pay for vet bills. I have seen this popping up entirely too often lately too. I do understand accidents happen such as a dog/cat making a break for it out a door as someone is coming in/out. I also understand that animals get sick no matter what kind of preventative measures are taken. What I am talking about is having outdoor, indoor/outdoor cats, leaving dogs out unattended, not getting them speutered (and doing NOTHING to keep them from making/having litters), or even choosing quantity of life over quality of life of the pet.
I really don't get it. I HATE asking for help, but I've had to do it. We could seriously use it right now thanks to our bank screwing us over and us not having the funds to close the account and go elsewhere. We are going to speak with them, but at this point, even if the fix their fuck up and credit us the money back, it still won't be enough. This is the main reason we don't get to go to a lot of conventions, or really do anything else. Just paying bills leaves us flat broke.
To those that don't know. No, I don't have a job outside the home. I'm a non-medical caregiver to my husband who is a disabled veteran. I cannot get a job outside the home as I need to be with him in case he has a panic attack...or worse.
Yes, I'm angry and I'm ranting about this because I am sick of seeing people throw money at others and get nothing in return when I am doing my damndest to offer low priced, quality artwork and getting nothing.
