So, my fursona frequently vacillates between male and something else (commonly referred to as a "cuntboi" or a "cboi") depending upon what feels right to me at a given moment. I kind of want to visit a shaman sometime, if I don't come to an unaided decision I'm completely confident about...
At any rate, I don't really mind the term "cuntboi" in sexual contexts, but I also consider it an identity that is not limited to sexual contexts, so "cuntboi" isn't really suitable as an everyday descriptor. "Herm" was the closest I could do for quite a while, but isn't 100 percent accurate.
Then I found out about a really old article in the field of gender studies about "five sexes": females, males, herms, ferms, and merms. Although the author of the article no longer considers herms/merms/ferms a good way to describe intersexed persons, it isn't much of a stretch to co-opt the old term for male pseudo-herms ("merms") for my purposes.
I'll still use "boi" (in place of where you would say "guy" or "boy" etc), but I'll use "merm" in place of "male/female/herm." Also, in case anyone didn't already know about my pronouns, when I'm feeling like a merm, it's "hy" instead of "he," "hym" instead of "him," "hys" instead of "his," etc.
Just a few thoughts that are on my mind right now!
