About Y! Gallery

You know whenever its late and I'm just a few minutes before going to bed, I sometimes get weird ideas.

So a few minutes I thought, I may want to make my art more accessible to others, by posting it on other sites and somehow Y! Gallery came to mind. However, I looked through some of the furry groups there and there wasnt really much to see. I still have my old profile there with nothing on it, since I had joined the site way before I started drawing.
The first thing I did, was dusting off the old thing and going through the list of people I watched back in 2006. And while removing basically everyone from the watch list, because the artist had left or was banned, I relived the experience of how it was when they outright banned furry art that year.

And then I thought to myself "fuck it, I'm not posting there. When these people start doing this shit again, I dont want to have my whole gallery removed".
So now, I'm asking you guys: I'm currently posting stuff on FurAffinity, Inkbunny, SoFurry and some clean art on deviantArt. Do you know any other art or furry community where I could post my stuff too? (If you make a suggestion, please keep in mind that they should allow porn :P)

Have u thought about making ur own web page for ur art?

I did, but I think it's too much trouble to go through. Because I would need to acquire a webhoster that would allow adult pictures, I would need someone to set it up, since I dont know anything about website design and then I would have to maintain it. And in the end, all I would be able to do was to show my art, I wouldnt have a lot of features like on here with comments, faves and so forth. So yeah, a website doesnt seem like a good choice for me at this point.

I was banned on Y! Gallery during the great furry banning. They claim I didn't have proof of age even though they never asked for it and even when appealing by scanning my drivers license I was still left banned! I am still banned till 2024!

Geez...I mean I saw some other big artists being banned like for example Kaa where it says on his page "Banned: stop posting lizards!" so I know they would pull off some crazy shit. But thats pretty weak, even for them.
I mean even I knew your character several years back, I knew you got yourself some commissions from artists like Zen and whatnot, so its not like it would be hard to check if you were actually underage or not. It just shows that they tried every possible reason to get rid of furry stuff. And thats not the kind of community I want to participate in.

I didn't even have art there posted. Just openly furry. Unfortunately a lot of furs were banned for just being furs.

There's the Japanese art site pixiv. Most of the people there are Japanese, so there's a bit of a language barrier, but the site itself is mostly translated into English.

I know pixiv but I dont think its for me, mostly because of the language barrier. I've seen the site design and I didnt see a lot of english on it, so I would have to look through tutorials and learn what buttons do what and so forth. Plus I would have a hard time understanding comments and the likes because of the poor translation through google translate. So its not really an option for me at this point.

The buttons and the rest of the interface are already in English, so there's no problem with that (if it didn't detect your preferred language, click on the "English (US)" link at the bottom of the page). You're right about the comments from the users, although some people will leave their comments in English if they know you don't speak Japanese. But yeah, it's probably not the best choice if you want to converse with the users.

This is by no means a complete depiction of what happened or something, just how I remember it:

It was a few years back in 2006. Before Y! Gallery was a pretty neat art community site, with a few cool features like polls, folders, customizeable profile pages and so forth. But then at one point they decided that there was too much furry art and that it was "flooding" the site or something and was taking all the attention away from non furry art. So they just outright banned it. Of course it was poorly conceiled by them saying it was okay if it was posted in a "extra" category, sorta like the scraps folders on inkbunny and FA, and there was some kind of clause that allowed the depiction of characters from myths and history like Anubis or others.
Still the furry artists wouldnt have any of it and for the most part left and migrated to FurAffinity back then.
A few years later Y! Gallery ran into some trouble concerning the funding of their site. As far as I know they were pretty close to closing down because they werent enough donations at some point.
So they just allowed furry and anthro art back on the site. But people were too fed up with it and were more than satisfied with FurAffinity and other sites, so only a few moved back.
When I checked my watchlist yesterday, which had mostly big names in terms of furry art on it, almost none of them had gone back to Y! gallery and most of their profiles had been abandoned since 2006.
