Getting Heart

Been depressed about my lack of speed lately, as well as frustrated about lack of skill in general. I really want to make a webcomic, I have four total stories sitting in a WordPad file, I have thought extensively about what is the most efficient way to draw a page while maintaining a pace that will not hinder quality, I have practiced with sketches and layering often enough, but I never get any better. At least I don't think I do. Some people can pump out a page a week, it takes me that long to do a panel...

Then I read this.

http://www.povonline.com/cols/COL209.htm

It's a rant about something unrelated but he also explains how long it takes professional animators and comic artists to do one strip, or a series of them, it takes a long time for people who have art degrees, that go to art school, that are considered professionals, that are renowned and paid for their work, to do these things, and it makes me feel a bit better about my own speed.

Also, I might as well say this because I never do. I LIKE it when people comment and favorite  my stuff, I love coming on here and seeing my friends comment on the work I submit, it makes me feel like all those hours meant something to someone besides me, I try to reply to all the comments but sometimes I just have nothing to say, but submitting something and coming back the next day to see 2 or 3 people favorite it feels awesome.

Hopefully this means a significant amount of people will be interested in my comic...

Looking on ConceptArt has only told me that I need to actually draw and there's nothing wrong or embarrassing about drawing badly as long as you want to learn and are always trying to improve, so, I've started what I hope will be the official first page (This would be the fourth attempt, actually) and so far have made good progress, in my opinion. I'm going to keep working on it in my free time, hopefully I'll have a use for that account I made on Smack Jeeves.

Also funny story, the person who referred me to use that site for my project was also part of the group that was responsible for that site getting a ToS. Go figure. Hearing about his escapades from when he was a teenager is always hilarious, I still think that's quite an accomplishment...
